Profiles and contacts
Review the profile and contact information available to you.
Your account profile controls the identity CareMap shows for you. Contact profiles show the identity and relationship information available for another CareMap account. A contact connection does not automatically grant access to every Report or piece of care information.
Open your account profile
- On desktop, select your avatar, name, and email at the bottom of the sidebar.
- On mobile, open More, then select your account identity.
The Account screen opens on the Profile tab. It includes:
- Display name, which is required and appears across your CareMap account.
- Date of birth, which is optional and kept with your private profile.
- Profile image, which appears with your identity and in your contacts' contact lists.
- Account identity, where your email and its Verified or Needs verification status are read-only.
A Certificates tab appears when your account has certificates.
Update your profile
- Open Account and stay on Profile.
- Select the edit button beside Display name or Date of birth.
- Enter the new value, then select the field's save action.
- To change your image, select your avatar or Choose image, then choose a local image. Select Remove image to return to the fallback avatar.
Profile changes are saved to your account and remain after you reload CareMap. Display-name and profile-image changes also update the identity your contacts see. Your email cannot be changed from this profile screen.
If CareMap reports that a field changed elsewhere, review the latest value in the editor before saving again. A profile image must finish uploading before it can be saved.
Find and open contacts
Open People and select Contacts. This is the default People tab and lists active CareMap contact connections by display name, email, and profile image. Use Search people in the app bar to filter by name, email, or contact state. On mobile, open the search control first.
Select a contact to open their profile. The Profile tab shows their current identity plus the relationship status and connected and updated times. A Certificates tab appears only when the contact has certificates.
Add a contact
- Open People and select Invite contact in the app bar.
- Enter the person's CareMap email address and select Send invite.
- Open Invitations to review the outgoing request.
- After the recipient accepts the invitation, the active connection appears in both accounts' Contacts lists.
An invitation remains separate from a contact until it is accepted. Incoming requests can be accepted or declined from Invitations, and the sender can cancel a pending outgoing request. Expired, declined, or canceled invitations do not create an active contact.
Manage contact access
Open an active contact and select Permissions to choose what that contact may do with your data. Available controls include Report visibility, creating Reports about you, Notes access, and Guardian access when your account is eligible. These permissions control the contact's access to your information; they do not change what the contact has granted you.
Pin Guides to my Shelf lets that contact manage only their own profile-identified Shelf row. When you have authority to curate a linked client's Shelf, Manage Shelf on their Person or Contact profile opens the direct editor without requiring passthrough. The editor shows every visible row but makes only your authorized supporter or organization row editable.
To end the contact connection, open the contact, select Remove, and confirm Remove contact. Removal deactivates the connection for both accounts and removes it from the active contact lists. Historical invitations, Reports, and account records remain intact.
If a profile or contact is missing
- Confirm you are signed in to the intended account and have not filtered the contact out with Search people.
- Check Invitations when a new contact is not listed. The invitation may still be pending or may have expired, been declined, or been canceled.
- If a contact was removed, send a new invitation only when both people intend to reconnect.
Use contact permissions narrowly and review them when a care relationship changes. Contact identity information can still be sensitive, so share it only through approved CareMap workflows.
