Assign contact designations
Identify a person’s care contacts without changing their permissions or organization roles.
Contact designations identify who fills care roles for a person. They appear in Profile details and use that person's active CareMap contacts. Assigning a designation does not grant Guardian access, document access, organization membership, or a License.
Choose the right designation
| Designation | Current holders per profile |
|---|---|
| Employer of Record (EOR) | One; the contact must also have an active Guardian relationship. |
| Primary Caregiver | Multiple contacts. |
| Attendant | Multiple contacts. |
| Services Facilitator | One. |
| Support Coordinator | One. |
| Care Coordinator | One. |
| Support Broker | One. |
One contact can have several designations. The same contact cannot be added twice to the same designation. For a single-holder designation, assigning someone else replaces the existing holder; review the replacement message.
Set a contact's designations
You need write access to the person's profile details.
- Open that person's Profile tab and find Profile details.
- Select Contacts to open that person's contact directory.
- Search for the contact by name or email, then select Edit designations.
- Select the roles they fill and clear any that no longer apply.
- Review any existing-holder replacement messages and select Save.
The directory uses the profile subject's contacts, even when you are a Staff member with a different contact list. It does not create or invite contacts. If someone is missing, establish an accepted contact connection with the profile subject first. See Profiles and contacts.
You can also use Add detail to choose a care designation and select a contact, or edit an existing designation row. A designation references a contact; it is not a field for typing an unrelated person's name.
Employer of Record and Guardian access
Employer of Record requires both an active contact connection and an active Guardian assignment. Choosing the designation does not establish that assignment or activate suspended Guardian permissions. Review Guardian access separately through the supported Guardian controls.
Other designations do not require a Guardian assignment. A designation also does not let a reader open the contact's full profile unless they already have access. Where available, the contact row can instead offer Copy email.
Changes, conflicts, and removal
Clear a designation and save to remove that contact from the role. Ending the underlying contact connection removes their designations. Employer of Record is also removed when no active Guardian assignment remains.
If assignments changed while you were editing, select Load latest and review the current holders. Keep my selections using the latest assignments preserves your selection for review before saving again. A failed save can offer Retry previous save. If the contact is no longer active, close and refresh the list rather than trying to assign them again.
