Invite and manage contacts

Connect with another CareMap account, choose its permissions, and understand what removal and reconnection do.

A contact connection links two CareMap accounts after an invitation is accepted. It lets you find each other and grant specific permissions; it does not make someone organization Staff, assign a Client, or appoint a Guardian.

Send a contact invitation

  1. Open People and select Invite contact in the top bar.
  2. Enter the recipient's email and select Send invite.
  3. Open Invitations to review the outgoing request and expiry.
  4. Ask the recipient to sign in with that email and open People > Invitations or the Home invitation inbox.
  5. After they select Accept, the contact appears in both accounts' lists.

The normal invitation lasts 14 days. The recipient may create an account using the invited email if needed. Sending does not create an account for them. Email matching ignores capitalization and surrounding spaces.

You cannot invite yourself or send another pending invitation from your account to the same email. Review or cancel the existing request first. Contact invitations have Cancel, not the organization invitation's copy/resend controls. If a request expires or is declined, send a fresh invitation when appropriate.

Accept, decline, or cancel

The recipient chooses Accept or Decline. Only the sender can Cancel an outgoing pending request. These actions apply without a second confirmation. Accepted, declined, expired, and canceled requests leave the pending list.

Accept all in People accepts eligible incoming contact invitations only. Review the accepted, skipped, and failed counts afterward; a failure does not undo other successful acceptances. Care-team invitations need their own individual decision.

If an invitation is unavailable, check the signed-in email, expiry, and whether someone already acted on it. Try again reloads invitations after an error. A sent request is not proof that the recipient has seen or accepted it.

Grant permissions

  1. Open the active contact and select Permissions.
  2. Choose the permissions you want that contact to have over your information.
  3. Select Save permissions and wait for the dialog to close successfully.

These grants run from you to that contact; they do not change what the contact has granted you. Options cover Reports, Notes, Profile Documents, profile details and summaries, and Pin Guides to my Shelf. Guardian is a separate, broader option when your account is eligible.

Enabling Create Reports about me also enables View my Reports. Clearing Report viewing clears creation. Notes, document, and profile access use their own None/View only/Write choices. See Consent and access for the effects of each permission. Canceling the dialog discards unsaved edits.

Remove or reconnect

Open the contact, select Remove, and confirm Remove contact. This ends the connection for both accounts and disables access that requires that active contact relationship. It does not delete either account or historical Reports. Independent care-team, Person Guardian, or organization access may remain.

Removal also clears invalid contact designations from affected profiles. However, saved contact permission grants and an account Guardian designation are not all erased. Accepting a new invitation can reactivate them when their other requirements are met. To revoke the saved grants, change and save Permissions before removing the contact; review permissions again after reconnecting. Removed care-role designations must be added again if needed.
