Courses and Learn overview

Authors build Courses and References in Library, publish versions through Catalog, and learners add them to their personal Learn collection.

Choose a Course or Reference

A Course presents Lessons in order and tracks completion. It can include one Quiz per lesson and an optional final exam. Completing all required work issues a certificate.

A Reference presents Chapters in any order. It saves the reader's chapter position without quizzes, completion, or certificates.

Both support Text, images, audio, video, and supplemental Catalog links. Authors can set a cover, accent color, and background.

Build and publish

You need folder edit access, content authoring, and available storage in the Library workspace.

1. In Library's create menu, choose New Course or Reference.
2. Select its type, enter a name, and create the project.
3. Configure Setup and lessons.
4. Add content and assessments as needed.
5. Wait for Saved, resolve Publishing readiness, and inspect Preview.
6. Use Publish to Catalog to create a submission or update an eligible one.

Preview activity is temporary. It does not record learner progress or issue certificates. Publishing readiness checks required setup, not every playback condition; see Save and preview a Course draft.

Use Saved drafts for retained device edits, and inline images for pictures inside Text.

Learn from published content

Your account needs content-use access and access to the listing when adding it. In Catalog, Add Course or Add Reference adds the current approved version directly. Open in Learn resumes an existing entry without updating it.

Learn has these sections when relevant items exist:

• Courses: active learning with Start or Continue.
• References: freely navigated chapters with Open.
• Completed: completed Courses with Review.
• Certifications: issued certificates.

Keep the different copies clear

Library is the editable source. A Catalog release is a published snapshot. Learn is your enrollment in a selected release. An independent Catalog copy added to Library is another editable project, not a learning enrollment.

Editing the source does not update existing Learn content. Read Course releases and updates before accepting a change: replacement resets learning history.

A Course favorite can offer Open in Learn for an existing enrollment and Edit source when permitted. Opening the favorite does not enroll you or automatically choose another release.

Transfer or manage content

Download saves a .course project; Import Course or Reference creates a separate editable project. These packages do not transfer learner activity.

Use Recertify to repeat a completed Course, Remove from Learn for an active entry, and Course certificates for issued credentials.
