Courses and Learn
Remove a Course or Reference from Learn
Remove an active learning item, understand permanent history loss, and distinguish removal from deleting published content.
Remove from Learn removes your active Course or Reference from your personal learning collection. It does not delete the publisher's Catalog submission, the Library source, or another person's enrollment.
A completed Course cannot be removed through this action.
Review what will be removed
For a Course, removal permanently deletes its stored lesson progress and assessment attempts. This also includes retained learning history from earlier runs if the item is currently active for recertification.
For a Reference, removal deletes the saved chapter position.
Previously issued certificates remain available and do not become void merely because an active learning item was removed.
Remove the item
- Open Learn > Courses or References.
- Open the active Course or Reference.
- Select Remove from Learn.
- Read the confirmation and check the item's name.
- Select Cancel to keep it, or confirm Remove from Learn.
- Wait for removal to finish and return to the collection.
The interface confirms removal even for a Reference or a Course with no completed lessons. Merely opening a Course can already have recorded an opened lesson, so a Start label is not proof that no learning history exists.
While removal is pending, wait for its result. If it fails, the dialog displays the error and keeps the item available to retry or cancel.
Add it again later
You can add the listing again from Catalog if it is still accessible, active, and has an available approved version. The new addition uses the listing's current version and starts fresh.
Removing and re-adding is not a recovery method for old progress. The removed attempts and chapter position do not return. For changing a release without removing the collection entry, see Course releases and updates; replacement also resets learning history.
An independent Library copy or favorite is unaffected. A favorite does not automatically recreate the removed Learn item.
When removal is unavailable
A completed Course keeps its Review and Recertify options and has no Remove from Learn action. Recertify begins real new learning work; it should not be used as a supposed undo or archive operation.
If the item is paused because content access is missing, the learning screen does not expose these management controls. Restore the account's content-use access before using the normal removal workflow.
If a request's outcome is unclear, return to Learn and check the collection before trying again. Check the current tab and clear any search before concluding the item has disappeared.
