Save and preview a Course draft

Check server saves, resolve conflicts, and distinguish publishing readiness from a working preview.

The Course builder automatically saves changes to the Library project after you pause typing. References use the same saving behavior. You need edit access, an active project, and an authoring-enabled workspace with available storage.

Confirm a save

  1. Open the Course or Reference for editing from Library.
  2. Make the changes and finish any image insertion.
  3. Wait for Saving… to become Saved in the header.
  4. Select Preview to inspect the saved content.
  5. Close Preview to return to editing, or use the builder's Back button to leave.

Preview and Back wait for pending changes to save. If saving fails, the builder keeps the draft open. Reloading or closing a tab can warn about unsaved work; that warning does not itself save anything.

Saved means CareMap accepted the current draft. It does not publish a Catalog release or replace the version already in someone's Learn collection.

Resolve Save failed

Keep the editor open. Check the connection, workspace access, storage, and highlighted fields, then select Retry save.

An invalid YouTube URL can prevent the entire draft from saving. Correct the URL or remove the incomplete Video item and retry. If your session expired, preserve a downloaded recovery copy before signing in again.

If an inline-image operation is pending or failed, finish it or use that operation's Retry or Cancel. Course saving and some navigation controls remain unavailable until those operations are resolved.

Handle a changed version

If CareMap says the draft changed elsewhere, stop and keep any needed local work through Saved drafts and Download draft.

Select Reload latest to replace the editor's contents with the current saved version. This does not merge competing edits. Review the latest project before reapplying changes or reviewing a retained draft. Saving a reviewed draft replaces the current definition and can encounter another conflict if someone edits again.

Check Publishing readiness

The list updates from the saved definition. It requires:

  • A project name and at least one lesson or chapter.
  • A title and at least one content item in every section.
  • A source for every media item and a selection for every Catalog resource.
  • Complete questions, answer choices, and correct-answer setup for assessments.

Ready to publish checks these setup requirements. It does not verify that Text contains useful writing, every media file has finished processing, an external video plays, or every learner can access a linked Catalog resource.

Use Preview deliberately

Inspect each section's text, media, captions, and appearance. Preview activity is temporary: it creates no learner progress or certificate. Closing and reopening starts a fresh preview.

Authors can inspect any lesson in the preview outline. This is not a test of a learner's sequential access or Catalog permissions. Publish through the Catalog release workflow after reviewing the content.
