Course certificates

Receive and review a certificate after completing a Course.

CareMap issues a certificate automatically when a learner completes a Course. References do not track completion or issue certificates.

Set up the certificate

You need edit access to the Course.

  1. Open Setup in the Course builder.
  2. Choose the Course Accent color and Background. The certificate uses the same appearance, and CareMap adds the publisher automatically.
  3. Under Expiration, choose Never expires or one of the available durations.
  4. Wait for Saved, then publish the Course through the Catalog workflow.

The certificate records the learner, Course, publisher, Course version, issue date, expiration date when one applies, and a unique certificate serial.

Earn and review a certificate

Complete every lesson and any required Quiz. If the Course has a Final exam, pass it as well. The completed Course moves to Completed, and its certificate appears under Learn > Certifications.

Select a certificate to review its details. If you have completed more than one version of the same Course, use Certificate version to open an older one. From the details, you can:

  • select Export PDF to download that certificate;
  • select Show in Catalog to open the source Course; or
  • select Export all valid from Certifications to download all of your valid certificates in one PDF.

An existing certificate remains available even if you no longer have content access. Other people can see a non-voided certificate on your profile only when they have access to both your profile and the source Catalog item.

Understand certificate status

  • Valid means the certificate has not expired or been voided.
  • Expired means its configured expiration date has passed. The completed Course remains available for review and recertification.
  • Voided means the certificate owner permanently invalidated it. An optional reason can appear with the certificate. Voiding cannot be undone.

A downloaded PDF is a record of its export time. Check the serial for the certificate's current status.

Validate a certificate

Open the actions menu in Learn, select Validate Certificate, and enter the complete serial printed on the certificate. You can also scan the QR code in an exported PDF to open the validator with the serial filled in. CareMap reports whether the certificate is valid, expired, voided, malformed, or not found. A certificate that is found can be exported from the validation result.

Recertify

Open the completed Course and, if needed, choose a Recertification version. Select Recertify to start that Course again. Your earlier certificate stays in certificate history, and completing the new run issues another certificate.

Fix common problems

  • The certificate did not open after completion: The Course is still complete. Open Learn > Certifications and select it there.
  • Certifications is missing: The tab appears after your first Course certificate is issued.
  • A serial does not validate: Enter the full serial beginning with CM-, including every group and hyphen.
  • Export all valid is unavailable: It appears only when at least one certificate is currently valid.
