Troubleshoot the Agent

Recover when the Agent cannot search, answer, or complete a supported action.

Use these checks when Ask CareMap cannot open, answer a question, search the expected content, show a citation, or complete a supported action.

If Ask CareMap is unavailable

Read the message shown in the Agent screen:

  • Sign in before using Ask CareMap means your session is missing or expired. Sign in again, then reopen Agent.
  • Add sources for CareMap means the current workspace does not have a guide or file available for Agent search yet.
  • CareMap is indexing means recent sources are still being prepared. Wait a short time, then choose Check again or refresh the workspace.
  • Ask CareMap is not enabled for this workspace means the feature is not available there. Switch workspaces or ask the workspace administrator.
  • Ask CareMap readiness could not be checked or Ask CareMap is starting or temporarily unavailable means CareMap could not confirm the Agent service. Check your connection and try again shortly.

If the AI credits remaining value is missing, refresh the screen. If a message says your monthly AI credits are used up, wait for the next reset or ask the person who manages the workspace's Licenses.

If answers do not use the content you expected

The Agent works inside the active workspace. Confirm the workspace shown in the top bar, then check whether you are asking about content you can open directly. Shared folders, read-only sources, and organization workspaces still use your normal access.

When the composer shows Limit CareMap tools to a folder, clear that option if you want the Agent to search or act across the whole workspace. Keep it on when you only want answers from that folder.

For questions about how CareMap itself works, ask plainly for CareMap help. The Agent may use the public Knowledge Base separately from your workspace content. For questions about your own guides, files, notes, schedule, people, or reports, include the name, date, folder, or person that should be in scope.

If a response fails or keeps running

While the Agent is responding, you may see Thinking, Searching CareMap knowledge, Searching CareMap Help, Reading schedule, or another tool trace. Let the tool finish when it is still running. If the answer is no longer useful, choose Stop CareMap response.

If CareMap says it could not complete the response, send the request again or start a New chat with a shorter, more specific question. If the message says the chat already has a response in progress, wait a moment and reopen the chat before trying again. Continue from the same conversation when CareMap says your message and completed tool results were saved.

If a supported action does not happen

The Agent can only use supported CareMap tools, and each action still follows the same permissions as doing it yourself. An action can fail when the content is read-only, missing, outside the active workspace, still processing, archived, or blocked by a workspace allowance.

Review any tool trace marked error. If the action changes a guide, form, schedule item, or note, check the affected screen before asking the Agent to repeat it. When possible, try the same action manually to confirm whether the issue is permissions, content state, or the Agent.

If a citation will not open

Open citations from the answer to review the source. If CareMap shows Citation unavailable, the source may have been deleted, moved, changed, or made unavailable to your account. Refresh the workspace, confirm you can open the source from Library or the guide, and ask the owner to verify sharing if needed.

What to share if it still needs help

Record the workspace, conversation name or first question, approximate time, visible error message, AI credit state, and whether any tool trace showed error. Include the item name or folder only when it is safe to share. Do not send private care content, citation details, or screenshots through an unapproved support channel.
