Accessibility reference

CareMap provides account-level controls for reading, motion, speech, touch, and Guide playback. Your saved preferences follow your account across web, desktop, and mobile, although the device still controls features such as speech and haptics.

Change your accessibility preferences

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accessibility.
3. Choose a setting. CareMap saves each change as you make it.

The available controls are:

• Voices: create named cloud Voice Profiles, choose their cloud speed, and set a default that follows your account across devices.

• Guide text size: Standard, Large, or Extra large for prompts in the Guide player.

• Navigation haptics: play brief native feedback when changing bottom tabs on a supported mobile device.

• Motion: choose System to follow the device's reduced-motion setting or Reduce to minimize page motion in CareMap.

• Speech rate: choose Slow, Normal, or Fast for device speech. A cloud Voice Profile uses the speed saved in that profile.

• Read field options: automatically read the visible Field methods or the available options for an Options method as one spoken list.

• Speak first player page automatically: start speaking when a player session opens. A page set to Never auto-speak remains quiet; an authored suggestion to speak still respects this account setting.

Adjust Guide playback

Under Guide player, you can set:

• the player surface to Default, Soft, or Contrast;
• page buttons at the Bottom or Center, with Small, Normal, or Extra large targets;
• whether previous and next buttons appear when the Guide has not set its own navigation behavior;
• whether swiping moves between pages;
• Field answer action timing: choose Instant, Default - 3 seconds, or Long - 5 seconds before any Field After submit or final Option action changes the Guide page or ends the Guide. This preference does not change a page's authored Auto-advance page timer;
• Option layout: Default or Large tiles. An Options field keeps its authored Grid or List presentation: Large tiles gives Grid options more room per tile, while List options remain full width with larger thumbnails and taller touch targets; and
• Summary or Compact Field answer controls.

These settings change how you experience Guides; they do not change the Guide for other people. A Guide's authored navigation or page speech choice can take priority where noted.

Use keyboard and assistive controls

Guide Options use visible labels, focus states, selection indicators, and status announcements. Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move through controls, then Enter or Space to activate the focused button, tab, or option. Dialogs keep keyboard focus within the open window and return it when the dialog closes.

For an Order answer, focus an item's reorder handle and press Space or Enter to pick it up. Use the Arrow keys, Home, or End to choose its new position, then press Space or Enter again to drop it. CareMap announces the movement and saved position. Press Escape before dropping to cancel the move.

On touch or pen devices, use the available page buttons or enable Swipe between pages. Swiping moves only where the current Guide navigation permits, and a gesture that starts on an interactive control does not turn the page. On narrow or coarse-pointer screens, editable text controls use at least 16-pixel text to reduce unwanted browser zoom.

If a setting does not apply

If CareMap shows an error beneath a setting, check your connection and try the change again. For motion, confirm the device preference when System is selected. For speech or haptics, check that the device and browser support the feature and allow CareMap to use it. If a Guide behaves differently from your default, its author may have set an explicit page or navigation option.
