Communication preferences
Save instructions for personalized Guide wording and understand credits, original responses, and offline limits.
When available for your account, Communication preferences let you describe wording that is easier for you to understand. They apply to supported Guide content and are separate from Agent personalization.
Save your instructions
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Communication.
- Turn on Adapt communication.
- Describe preferred words, language, level of detail, or sentence style. For example: “Use short sentences and address me directly.”
- Keep within the displayed 4,000-character limit.
- Select Save and wait for saving to finish before leaving.
Adapt communication is on by default, but adaptation needs saved, nonempty instructions. Turning it off saves immediately and preserves those instructions. Clear empties the draft; select Save afterward to remove saved instructions. A failed save keeps the draft so you can retry. Use Try again if the section could not load.
Instructions are private to the account. An Account Guardian can manage them through Guardian pass-through. Administrator pass-through does not expose this section. Availability can differ between accounts.
What changes in a Guide
While new wording is being prepared, the author's original wording remains visible with a Generating status. Adapted wording replaces eligible displayed text when ready. Blocks marked verbatim retain their authored wording. The saved Guide, selected answer, and recorded answer value are not rewritten.
If generation is unavailable, the original content remains usable. Check the message and use Retry when offered. Reusing an existing adaptation does not use AI credits; new generation may use the active account's personal credits. A low balance can prevent new adaptations while cached wording remains available.
Recorded or uploaded author audio remains unchanged. Generated speech for adapted content uses the adapted wording rather than generated audio for the original.
Offline use and responses
Personalized offline readiness includes the required adaptations and speech. Reconnect and use Refresh offline when preparation is incomplete or stale. Speech dependent on an answer or another value not yet known can keep personalized readiness incomplete, even when device speech can later provide a fallback. See Offline Guides for the preparation workflow.
A Report may show an AI-assisted communication interpretation beside a free-text or transcribed response. The original response remains authoritative; the interpretation can be inaccurate and does not replace it.
If you expected different wording, check that adaptation is enabled and your latest instructions were saved. An authored verbatim block or recorded audio will retain its original content. If the entire section is missing, the feature may not be available for that account or sign-in context.
