Guides
Full and Simplified Guide players
Choose full pages or one large, focused block at a time for the same Guide.
Full and Simplified show the same Guide in different ways. Authors do not need to duplicate content or change a Guide to support both.
| Experience | Full | Simplified |
|---|---|---|
| Content | The page's blocks together | One existing block at a time |
| Controls | The usual page layout | Large text, images, choices, and focused inputs |
| Forward | Goes to the next page | Continue goes to the next block, then the next page |
| Answers and Reports | Existing validation and capture | The same validation and capture |
Choose your player
- Open Settings > Accessibility.
- Find the Guide player section.
- In the Guide player dropdown, select Full or Simplified.
- Wait for the change to save, then launch a Guide.
Full is the default. Your choice follows your account across supported devices; there is no separate device override. A running Guide keeps its current player until the next launch. When offline, CareMap uses the account choice already available on that device; reconnect to receive a choice saved elsewhere.
Use Simplified
- Read the current block, centered in the available area. Scroll when long text, tables, or choices extend beyond that area.
- For a Field, select its answer method and use its existing input and submission controls. Follow any validation or save message.
- Use the large Continue button at the bottom right to move down the page. After its last block, Continue uses the Guide's page navigation. At the end, it changes to Finished with a check mark.
- Use the back arrow at the bottom left to review earlier content. At the first block it follows the Guide's previous-page and return rules.
Use the X at the top left to leave the player. The … button at the top right opens Guide controls, including available sequence navigation. Preview also keeps its player selector, report, reset, and editor actions there. Simplified has no top bar or bottom page-dot bar.
About appears when someone other than yourself is available to select. Stop speech appears while speech or an audio/video block is playing, and stops that playback. These visibility rules also apply to the Full player.
Saving or submitting an answer does not add automatic block advancement. An action authored into the Guide can still open a popup, change the actual page, or finish the Guide. A required Field or invalid draft can prevent navigation. If CareMap identifies a missing required reply, use its Open control to return to that Field.
Moving between blocks keeps the current page visit and its input state. Closing a popup restores the parent view. Slider controls include large thumbs and adjustment buttons; Order and Category answers also offer controls that do not require dragging.
Timing, speech, and saved sessions
Page timers keep running while you move between blocks. A timed action may run before you have viewed every block; Simplified does not extend the authored timer.
In Simplified, automatic reading follows the focused block. Speak page still requests the whole page. Moving away stops outgoing playback or capture so hidden content does not keep playing or recording.
An explicit resume on the same device can restore your Simplified position when that content is still available. Another device may start at the beginning of the saved page. A fresh run starts at its launch target. Neither player changes the session's About subject or creates extra Reports for block movement.
Authors can select Full or Simplified in Preview player without changing their account preference or creating a real Reports inbox record.
