Personal Guide controls

Choose a player experience, navigation preferences, answer interactions, and action timing.

Personal Guide controls change your playback experience without editing the Guide. Open Settings > Accessibility > Guide player. Changes save to your account; wait for Saving to finish and retry if a save fails.

Choose the player

Set Guide player to Full or Simplified. Full presents the page's blocks together. Simplified presents one block at a time with focused controls. Your selection applies when you next launch a Guide; changing the preference does not switch an already running session.

See Full and Simplified Guide players for the playback controls and session behavior. A Guide editor can select a separate experience for its preview.

Adjust navigation

  • Page button size: choose Small, Normal, Extra large, or XXL.
  • Show previous button and Show next button: choose your normal button visibility. These preferences take priority over the Guide-wide default; an explicit setting on a particular sequence takes priority over them.
  • Swipe between pages: allow or disable swipe navigation. Your account preference takes priority over the authored swipe preference.
  • Show page title: show or hide the page title in the player.
  • Tap to play: open a fresh session directly from an eligible Guide card instead of opening its details first. It does not make an unavailable Guide playable.

Navigation preferences do not remove required-answer rules or other playback conditions. For familiar Back and Next symbols, use Navigation buttons.

Adjust answer interactions

Category answer interaction offers Drag or Dropdown for category sorting. Drag presentation also provides a Move action for choosing a category without dragging.

Hide Option labels removes visible option captions. Accessible names, speech, and the answer values saved in Reports remain available. Use it only when the remaining visuals are recognizable to the person playing.

Guide action delay offers No delay, 3 seconds, or 5 seconds for supported actions after an answer. An explicit authored outcome delay takes priority. A visible finish message still remains for at least three seconds, including when No delay is selected.

For option sizing and Summary or Compact answer presentation, see Personal Guide presentation. For reading choices or submitted answers aloud, use Speech preferences.

If a Guide behaves differently

Check its sequence-specific button rules and authored action delay before changing your account settings again. Confirm that the save finished and start a new session when testing a different player experience. A larger button or enabled swipe gesture cannot bypass a Guide's answer requirements.
