Accessibility settings

Accessibility settings personalize how CareMap presents Guides for your account. They do not edit the author's Guide. Saved choices follow your account across web, desktop, and mobile; device capabilities still affect speech and haptics.

Open Settings > Accessibility, then choose the section you need. Most switches and selectors save immediately. Wait for Saving to finish. If a change fails, check the connection and select it again. Editors with Save or Apply preset need that action before changes are saved.

Reading

Under Reading, set Guide text size to Standard, Large, Extra large, or XXL. This adjusts Guide player text rather than the size of every CareMap interface element.

Motion and touch

• Motion: choose Follow this device to use its reduced-motion preference, or Reduce motion to request reduced motion in CareMap.
• Navigation haptics: enable brief feedback for supported mobile bottom-tab changes. Haptics require a supported installed mobile app and device; they are not a desktop vibration control.

Visual Effects also respect the device's reduced-motion request. Saving a more intense treatment does not override it.

Speech

In Speech, choose:

• Device speech rate: Slow, Normal, or Fast for device-generated speech. Cloud Voice Profiles keep their own saved speed.
• Read field options: automatically read eligible visible answer methods and choices. This is separate from reading prompts and content.
• Speak submitted answers: read an answer after selection or submission. Hidden visual option labels can still be spoken; media answers may be announced by their kind rather than reading the media itself.
• Automatically read prompts and content: read eligible content as you open Guide pages, rather than only the first page of a session.

Automatic speech still respects authored restrictions. A page set to never speak suppresses its automatic speech; an authored request does not turn on prompt reading when your preference is off. Browser or device playback rules may require an interaction before sound starts. Use a visible speech control or see Speech troubleshooting when needed.

Other accessibility preferences

• Guide controls: Full or Simplified player, navigation, interaction, and action delays.
• Guide presentation: colors, alignment, images, option layout, and answer display.
• Guide button images: familiar Back, Next, and Complete symbols.
• Communication preferences: saved instructions for personalized wording when available.
• Voice Profiles: named cloud voices and speeds.
• Shelf Mode: the focused Guide Shelf experience and how to reopen Settings.
