Create and edit a Guide

Create a Guide in Library, then use the editor to build its Guide > Sequence > Page > Block structure. You need Guide authoring access and edit permission in a writable destination folder.

Create a Guide

1. Open Library and enter the folder where the Guide should be stored.
2. Open Create and select New Guide.
3. Enter a name and optional description. To begin from reusable content, turn on Use template and choose a Template instead.
4. Select Create guide. CareMap creates the Guide in the current folder and opens it in the editor.

A blank Guide starts with a Start sequence and Page 1. A Template copies its saved structure and settings; later edits affect only the new Guide.

Build and update the Guide

1. Use Guide > Guide settings to change the Guide name, description, audience, cover, navigation display, or completion behavior.
2. Use Sequence to add, rename, duplicate, or organize sequences and choose Make start sequence for the opening flow.
3. Use Page to add, rename, duplicate, organize, or adjust the active page.
4. Select Add block on the page canvas and choose Text, Media, or Field. CareMap adds the block immediately and opens the Block Editor.
5. In the Block Editor, enter the Text body; choose an image, video, or audio source and Media settings; or enter a Field prompt and configure its answer methods. Select Save block to keep the dialog draft. Use Edit on an existing block to change it; Cancel leaves that saved block unchanged.
6. To rename a block from the page, select the pencil beside its name, enter the new name, and select the checkmark. In the Block Editor, the pencil beside the Content section changes the name in the dialog draft, so select Save block after confirming it.
7. Open Warnings and repair severe launch blockers. Select Preview in the editor toolbar to test the saved experience without creating a Reports inbox record.

Extra-wide screens provide an outline for selecting and reordering sequences and pages. Tablet and narrower desktop layouts provide sequence buttons plus the Guide, Sequence, and Page menus. On phones, use the compact Structure, Guide, Sequence, Page, and More bar; Structure opens the Organizer.

Understand saving and availability

CareMap saves structural actions such as adding, duplicating, deleting, and reordering content when each action completes. Guide, Sequence, and Page settings and Block Editor changes stay in their dialog drafts until you select that dialog's Save action.

Text bodies and Field prompts are edited in the Block Editor. When a Media caption is enabled, you can also edit it directly on the page; it autosaves after five seconds without another edit or when you leave the caption editor. CareMap finishes a pending caption save before Back, Preview, Play, Schedule, page, or sequence navigation proceeds. If that save fails, navigation does not proceed and the latest caption draft remains available.

There is no whole-Guide Save button and no separate Draft or Publish state. The latest saved Guide is the current version. Normal saved state stays quiet; Saving or Save failed appears when attention is needed.

Creation or Edit can be unavailable when the current workspace is read only, the folder does not grant edit access, Guide authoring is unavailable, or the workspace cannot accept more authored content. Play-only and view-only access does not expose the authoring controls.

Fix common problems

• New Guide is missing: Confirm the active workspace and folder are writable and that you have edit access.
• A dialog save fails: Keep the dialog open, resolve the reported problem, and select its Save action again. A failed inline Media caption save keeps the latest draft available; correct it or try the blocked navigation again.
• CareMap reports a conflict: Select Review conflict. Retry save loads the latest Guide and reapplies the change when possible. Use Reload latest only after reviewing the local draft that the server copy may replace.
• Preview or Play is blocked: Open Warnings and repair missing start content, empty reachable pages, unavailable media, or broken routes.
