Recover saved Guide drafts on this device

Find unsaved Guide versions, reopen supported drafts, download a copy, or discard a version.

The Guide editor keeps recovery copies of unsaved work on the current device. Open Drafts to see Saved Guide drafts for the current account, workspace, and Guide. These copies are separate from the saved Guide and from answers recorded during Play.

Respond to a restore prompt

Opening an editor with retained work can show Restore unsaved Guide changes? Read the draft's label, time, and any message that the saved content changed elsewhere.

  • Restore draft brings that version into the editor.
  • Not now leaves the saved draft available for later.
  • Discard draft removes the reviewed recovery copy.

For a settings or Block Editor dialog, review the restored content and use its normal save action. Restored on-page content follows that editor's autosave behavior, so resolve a conflict before continuing. Restoring a draft is not a promise that it is the latest shared version.

Find a retained version

  1. Open the Guide in Edit on the device where you worked.
  2. Select Drafts. The count can include copies from separate editor sessions.
  3. Select a row by its label and update time. The list shows newer copies first.
  4. Review the content preview and available actions.
  5. Use Open draft, when offered, to return to its editor and compare it with the current Guide.

A draft already open in an editor cannot be reopened, restored, or discarded from this panel while that editor is active. You can still download it.

Separate sessions can retain separate copies. Saving or canceling one session does not clear every older version. If a row changed while you reviewed it, CareMap can ask you to select the newer version before discarding it.

Keep a downloaded copy

Select a draft, then Download draft. This downloads a JSON recovery file containing that draft's saved information. The preview is only a convenient text view; the download preserves more of the recorded details.

The Drafts panel has no import action for these files. They are reference copies, not a portable Guide package or a complete media backup. Store them where you normally keep authorized work.

Use Discard saved draft only when you no longer need that version. This removes a local recovery copy; it does not delete the saved Guide content.

Understand recovery limits

Drafts belong to this device's app or browser storage. They do not automatically appear on another device, browser profile, or account. Do not rely on them surviving cleared site data or unavailable device storage.

A storage error means a visible copy may exist only while this editor remains open. Keep it open, download the draft, then try Retry saving drafts. The button retries local draft storage; it does not save the Guide to CareMap.

The panel currently omits Open/Restore actions for Flashcard drafts and page/sequence snapshots containing Flashcards. If the original item exists, open its normal editor and look for the automatic restore prompt. Otherwise, download the copy. For removed items and changed editing surfaces, see Restore content from a Guide draft.
