Guide templates

Templates are reusable snapshots of Guide content. CareMap supports separate Guide, Sequence, Page, and Block templates, so each saved item can only be used at the matching level of a Guide.

Create a template

1. Open the source Guide in the editor and select the content you want to save.
2. Open Guide, Sequence, or Page and select Create guide template, Create sequence template, or Create page template. For a Block, open its actions and select Create block template.
3. Enter a Template name and optional description.
4. Under Destination folder, choose a folder where you have Owner or Editor access, then select Create template.

The new template appears in its destination folder in Library. Creating a template does not change the source Guide. The template records the supported content and settings as they exist when you create it; later source edits do not update that saved snapshot.

Use a template

• To create a Guide, open its destination folder in Library, select Create > New Guide, turn on Use template, choose a Guide template, enter the new name, and select Create guide. You can also open a Guide template's Library actions and select Create guide.
• To add a sequence or page, use Sequence > Add sequence or Page > Add page, turn on Use template, choose a matching template, enter its name, and finish the Add action.
• To add a saved Block, select Add block on a page and choose it under Templates. Search can filter both blocks and templates.

Each result is a new, independent copy. Editing or deleting a template does not rewrite its source or copies that were already created. Use the template's Library actions to edit its saved content and details, rename it, move it, or delete it.

Access and availability

You need Guide authoring access to create or edit templates. The destination picker lists only folders where you can create or edit content. Template pickers show the matching templates available to you in the current workspace; a Guide template cannot be inserted as a Page, Sequence, or Block.

On smaller screens, creation and selection dialogs use a full-screen layout, but the names and steps are the same.

Fix common problems

• The create action is unavailable: Confirm that Guide authoring is enabled and that you can edit the source content and destination folder.
• A template is missing from the picker: Check the active workspace, folder access, and template type. Close and reopen the picker after access or Library changes.
• A Page or Block template cannot be added: Open the destination sequence or page first, then retry with a matching template type.
• Creation reports an error: Keep the source or destination open, retry, and check Library before repeating the action in case the first request completed.
