Use the Block Editor

Rename a Guide block, find its content, Card and Speech controls, and save or recover edits.

Open an editable Guide from Library, select a page, and use Add block or the Edit action on an existing block. You need edit permission in the Guide's folder and a workspace that allows authoring.

The Block Editor keeps a draft of the block's settings. Changes normally reach the saved Guide when you select Save block.

Find the controls

The first tab uses the block's name. It contains its content and controls for that block type. Tabs appear down the side on wider screens and across the top on smaller screens.

  • Text provides Text content, text appearance, and On tap.
  • Flashcard provides Question text, Answer text, separate images, and flip options.
  • Media first asks for Image, Video, or Audio, then shows the matching source and playback controls.
  • Field provides the prompt and response settings, with separate answer method controls and Linking for a target Form.

Card changes the block's surrounding appearance. Speech provides spoken wording, audio, voice, and accessibility settings. An unconfigured Media block needs a media type before its other sections become available.

Rename the block

  1. Select the pencil beside the block's name.
  2. Enter a nonempty, descriptive name.
  3. Select the checkmark or press Enter to apply it to the draft.
  4. Select Save block to persist the change.

Escape cancels the name edit. Applying the checkmark alone does not save the block to the Guide. The name identifies it in authoring and can also provide its default accessibility label; keep it useful to people hearing the block.

Edit content and presentation

Use rich-text formatting in the content fields, and inline images when pictures belong within that text. The image or link editor's Save updates the current block draft; finish with Save block.

Use Block appearance for Card style, colors, alignment, and Text size. Preview at the sizes and player settings your audience uses.

Under Speech, Spoken text override supplies different narration. Use current speech source copies the current speech text into that override, so later content edits do not automatically rewrite it. Clear spoken override returns to the block's normal speech source. Review recorded or uploaded speech separately when the content changes.

Cloud voice bindings save through their own controls immediately. Canceling the Block Editor does not undo a successful voice change. See Guide speech.

Save or recover

  1. Finish any image selection, upload, recording, or mapping work.
  2. Resolve a displayed validation issue, then select Save block.
  3. Wait for confirmation and reopen the block if you need to verify its values.
  4. Preview the affected page and actions.

Pending work can disable tabs, saving, or closing. An unresolved inline-image job needs Retry or Cancel before saving can continue. A blank name, missing Media type, or invalid configuration also prevents saving.

For an existing block, Cancel leaves the save flow; a dirty draft can require a discard decision. A newly created block uses Close. Its initial structure was already added to the Guide, so discarding the dialog's edits does not delete that block.

Keep the editor open if saving fails. Follow save recovery for Retry unconfirmed save and edit conflicts for Changed elsewhere. A device draft is recovery material, not proof that the saved Guide changed.
