Format Guide rich text, links, and tables
Use the rich-text toolbar and understand what changes when editing Markdown Source.
Guide content fields such as Text content, Field prompt, and Flashcard Question text and Answer text support rich text. Open the block in the Block Editor with Guide editing access.
Use Rich text for ordinary editing. The toolbar changes the draft; select Save block when you are finished.
Structure and format the content
The toolbar offers:
- Block type for Paragraph, headings, Quote, Code block, and Separator.
- Bold, Italic, Underline, and Inline code for selected words.
- Bulleted lists, numbered lists, and checklists.
- Link, table, and image controls.
On a narrow Block Editor, some controls are grouped under Formatting. Place the cursor in the text or select words before applying formatting. Keep headings and list structure meaningful rather than using them only to change the visual size.
A checklist here is authored content. Its checked state appears read-only during playback and does not collect a player response or satisfy a required Field. Use a Field block to collect answers.
Text alignment is a block-wide control with personal-default behavior. See Block appearance.
Add or change a link
- Select the words to link, or place the cursor where the link belongs.
- Use the link control, or press Command+K on Mac or Ctrl+K elsewhere.
- Enter meaningful link text and its URL, then select Save.
- Save the block and test the link in Preview.
Both link text and a valid destination are required. Web, email, telephone, and relative destinations are supported; unsafe URL schemes and spaces in a URL are rejected. Use a complete web address when the destination is an external site.
Select an existing link in the editor to change it. Remove link keeps its words while removing the destination. Playback links open separately from the Guide; device handling can vary for email and telephone links.
Work with a table
Use the table control to insert a table. Place the cursor in a cell to enter content. While working in the table, the toolbar offers Add row, Add column, and Remove table.
Remove table removes the whole table from the draft. Save the block when the result is correct. Wide tables can scroll horizontally in playback, so keep them small enough to read comfortably on the intended device.
For pictures, use Images inside Guide text.
Review or edit Source
The Source mode control (</>) shows a Markdown representation of the
content. Simply opening it
does not replace the saved rich text.
If Markdown cannot preserve all current formatting, the editor displays a warning and keeps Source read-only until you select Enable source editing. Editing Source can simplify formatting that Markdown does not represent. Return to Rich text to inspect the result before saving.
Formatting toolbar actions are unavailable while editing Source. Use Rich text when you want its visual controls. Unsupported imported material may appear as Preserved Markdown source; it is preserved text, not an executable or interactive embed.
Fix unexpected results
If formatting changed after a Source edit, keep the block open and compare with the saved version before deciding to save or discard the draft. Avoid repeated conversions as a repair method.
If Save block is unavailable after inserting or pasting an image, resolve the image job with Retry or Cancel. An image upload is separate from formatting and must finish before the block can save.
Finally, Preview the saved page. Verify headings, link destinations, table width, images, and spoken support rather than assuming the editor preview proves every playback behavior.
