Flashcard blocks

Use a Flashcard to show a question, then reveal its answer when the player taps it. Each side supports formatted text and an optional image. You need edit access to the Guide to add or change a Flashcard.

Flipping a Flashcard does not submit a response or score an answer. Use a Field block when you need to collect an answer in a report.

Add a Flashcard

1. Open the Guide in the editor and choose Add block, then Flashcard.
2. Enter Question text and Answer text. Use the formatting controls for headings, emphasis, lists, or other supported formatting.
3. Optionally choose Choose question image or Choose answer image. Add an Image description for each image so assistive technology can explain it.
4. Turn on Show question above the answer if the question should remain visible above the revealed answer. This starts off.
5. Optionally turn on Flip back after 5 seconds. This also starts off.
6. Select Save block, then preview both sides.

You can replace or remove either image without changing the other side. The Card and Speech tabs provide the usual appearance and speech settings. Automatic block speech reads the question; it does not reveal the answer.

Use a Flashcard

Tap the card to reveal the answer. Tap again to return to the question. With a keyboard, focus the card and press Enter or Space. Links inside the text keep their normal behavior.

The card animates as it flips and respects reduced-motion preferences. With Flip back after 5 seconds enabled, each reveal starts a new five-second countdown. Returning manually cancels that countdown. Without this option, the answer stays visible until the player flips back or leaves the page.

Fix common problems

• The answer is empty: Edit the block, enter Answer text, and save.
• The card returns too quickly: Turn off Flip back after 5 seconds so players can take as much time as they need.
• An image is missing: Reopen the block and choose the image again. Wait for an upload to finish before saving; if it fails, retry the upload.
