Images inside Guide text

Insert, paste, describe, resize, and recover images within a Guide block's rich text.

Rich-text images sit within a block's text, such as Text content or a Flashcard question or answer. They are separate from a Media image block, a page background, and the Flashcard's dedicated question and answer images.

You need Guide editing access and an available image source. Uploads and copies need an online connection and sufficient workspace storage.

Insert an image

  1. Open the block in the Block Editor and place the cursor in its rich text.
  2. Choose Insert image, then use an available source in the image picker. You can also paste an image file or drop image files into the text.
  3. Wait for the image operation to finish.
  4. Select the inserted image to open Edit image.
  5. Set its description and presentation, select Save, then Save block.

When using an existing CareMap image, CareMap checks your access and prepares it for use in the destination block. Copying content does not grant access to an image that you cannot read.

Describe and size it

Alternative text describes the meaningful content for assistive technology. Replace a filename-based default with a useful description. Caption is visible supporting text beneath the image; use it when readers need that information too.

Width sets the image's requested width. Use a positive value no greater than 10,000, or clear it to remove the explicit width. The displayed image still fits within its available area and keeps its proportions.

The image dialog's Save updates the block draft. Remove removes this image from that text. It does not delete the original Library image. Finish with Save block to persist the edited text.

An image description is not a substitute for narration. Text-block speech uses the text content without automatically reading image descriptions. Add visible explanatory words or a Spoken text override when the spoken version needs to explain the picture.

Paste text containing images

Copying rich text within CareMap can include its managed images. Pasting into a Guide block prepares those resources before inserting the content. Keep the destination editor open while Adding image resources is shown.

The destination must support image insertion, your access to the source must still be valid, and storage must be available. A reference copied into the clipboard alone does not make the image available to another account or workspace.

If the paste fails, resolve the access, connection, or storage problem and select Retry. Alternatively, select Cancel for that operation and insert an available image again.

Resolve an unfinished image job

A pending or failed insertion stays visible as a job with recovery controls. Save block and some navigation controls remain unavailable until the job finishes or is canceled.

  • Finish or cancel an open image picker.
  • For Image upload failed, restore the connection and use Retry.
  • Use Cancel if you no longer need that insertion.
  • If the image itself shows Image unavailable, use its Retry control when offered, check access, or replace it with an available source.

Do not reload to clear a pending upload: its local file and operation may be lost. A block recovery draft is not a guarantee that an unfinished image transfer can resume after reopening.

Check playback and offline use

Save the block and Preview the page. Confirm that images load, captions are readable, and the content works on a narrow screen.

For offline playback, prepare the Guide on that device and inspect its offline readiness. A remotely linked image is not proof that the image is available offline. Test the prepared Guide before relying on it without a connection.
