Find and change settings

Find settings with search, understand where preferences apply, and recognize controls that need saving.

Settings groups your CareMap preferences by task. Available choices depend on your account access, selected workspace, device, and enabled features.

Open and search Settings

  1. On desktop, select the Settings gear beside your account controls. On mobile, open More, then Settings.
  2. Choose a category, then a section. On wide screens, use the navigation tree or breadcrumbs; on narrow screens, use Back to move up a level.
  3. Use Search settings to find a control by its name or purpose, such as “voice,” “motion,” or “email.”
  4. Change a simple control directly in the results. On narrow screens, a larger editor may offer Open setting; use Close setting when finished.
  5. Clear the search to return to the Settings root.

Search results show each control's section so you can find it again. Search uses setting labels, descriptions, and related terms; it is not a search of your saved instruction text or workspace content.

At the root, suggestion cards may appear above the categories, including email activation or passkey setup.

Understand where a setting applies

Check the scope shown with the setting:

  • This device: applies to this browser or installed app. Appearance, interface language, and optional navigation visibility use local preferences. These choices do not follow your account to a different device.
  • Your account: applies to the account you are using. Saved accessibility, Effects, and Voice Profile preferences follow that account across devices.
  • Current workspace: relates to the selected personal or organization workspace. Check the workspace shown in Settings before changing an available control.
  • This runtime: describes this running app, such as its version, device readiness, or pending session synchronization.

Selecting an organization does not turn every account preference into an organization-wide setting. Local device preferences may also be shared by accounts using the same browser installation.

Save a change

Simple switches and selectors usually save immediately. For account preferences, wait for Saving to finish. An error can restore the previous value; check your connection and try the change again.

Larger editors use their own actions. Communication instructions need Save, Voice Profiles need Create profile or Save profile, and a color preset needs Apply preset. Selecting a preset only previews it.

If a setting is missing, clear the search, check its category and workspace, and confirm that the device and account support it. Searching does not reveal unavailable controls or grant permission. In Shelf Mode, use the special Settings access from the Shelf.
