Notes and Schedule
Check reminders after schedule changes
Understand how edits, rescheduling, skipping, completion, and assignment changes affect reminders.
Changing scheduled work can change its reminder state as well as its date. Check the reminder again after saving an edit.
Review the result
- Save the intended schedule or occurrence change.
- Refresh Schedule in the owning workspace and reopen the affected date.
- Check the start, About, reminder offset, and reminder status.
- For a series, also check other upcoming dates whose reminders you previously acknowledged or snoozed.
- Refresh supported devices before relying on their prepared alerts.
A save error can occur after the schedule itself was saved. Check the current schedule before creating duplicate work to recover.
Ordinary schedule edits
Saving a schedule recalculates its upcoming reminders. This includes changes such as its title, not only changes to Start or Reminder.
An existing acknowledged or snoozed schedule reminder can return to Pending at the schedule's calculated reminder time. A failed reminder can also return to Pending. Editing, skipping, rescheduling, or clearing one recurring occurrence recalculates upcoming reminders for the series, so saved Ack or Snooze choices on other dates can reset too.
A delivered reminder at the same offset is retained. Moving its occurrence does not guarantee another delivery. Choosing a different offset can create a different reminder; earlier delivered or acknowledged reminders may remain visible in the date's reminder history. Check the current badge and available actions rather than assuming all reminders were replaced.
For a rescheduled date, the reminder is due before its new start using its explicit offset, or the series default when it inherits one. See rescheduling one occurrence.
Skip, complete, delete, or restore
Skipping or completing an occurrence stops its pending, failed, and snoozed reminders from remaining active. Deleting a schedule cancels those active reminders. Delivered and acknowledged history can remain.
Restoring a skipped date or clearing an exception can make its original date eligible again. That does not guarantee another alert: the due time may have passed, the date may be outside the upcoming preparation window, or a delivered reminder may be retained.
Assignment due reminders
Assignment reminder behavior differs. An acknowledged, snoozed, or delivered assignment reminder can remain as it was when assignment details or its due time change. Do not assume changing the due date resets an earlier Ack or Snooze.
Removing the due date or making the assignment inactive settles active reminders. Check the assignment and its current Schedule row to find the work.
These are saved reminder behaviors, not guarantees of device delivery. In particular, Snooze currently does not prepare a replacement local alert.
