Options images, labels, and Effects
Choose Grid or List visuals, distinguish Image from Result Image, reveal hidden captions, and configure option feedback.
Options can use text, icons, or images. Authors configure the choices; player preferences can change their layout or hide captions without changing the saved answer.
Add an option image
- Open a Guide you can edit, select the Field's Options method, and open Edit options.
- Select the choice in the tree.
- Enter its Label and optional Icon. Select the image preview or Upload to open the image picker; choose or upload an image.
- For a final single-choice option, optionally add a Result Image.
- Wait for uploads to finish, select Save, then Save block.
Image appears while the person chooses. Result Image replaces it within the selected choice after acceptance. The other single-choice options stay visible; the result does not expand into a separate full-screen answer.
Result Image is unavailable for groups or multiple selections. It is a visual result, not new photo evidence, and does not replace the original option image in the saved answer. Use Photo when the person must provide an image.
Use Clear in the relevant image section to remove an authored image. For upload errors or a missing asset, choose an available replacement, wait for it to finish, and save both the options and block.
Choose Grid or List
Under Option behavior → Presentation:
- Grid places captions below image or icon tiles. A text-only choice uses its text without an unnecessary empty image area.
- List uses full-width rows with an optional leading image or icon.
The player's Default Option layout uses responsive Grid or ordinary List. Fixed Grid / larger List centers Grid tiles targeting 150 pixels wide or enlarges List thumbnails and touch targets. Fixed Grid can be smaller than Default on a wide screen. Simplified playback uses one column.
The player's hide-option-label preference displays Options as a Grid, even when the author chose List. See Guide presentation settings.
Hide or reveal captions
An author can select Hide visible label on an option. Its Label remains required and visible in both editing trees, and stays available to speech, Reports, routing, and accessible controls.
When the player's hide-option-label preference is active, Show option labels temporarily reveals captions for the current Options method, including captions hidden by the author. Hide option labels hides them again. This does not edit the Guide, change account settings, save an answer, or restart an action. The reveal control is not shown solely because an author hid one caption.
Configure feedback
Groups and multiple-selection choices offer Effect: Positive, Negative, Neutral, or None. Groups play their Effect after an accepted parent-path save. A multiple-choice Effect can play when an option is added to the draft, before Confirm; it is not proof that the response has been saved.
Final single choices use After selecting for feedback and actions. A configured option action replaces the method fallback. See Field after-submit actions.
Effects provide visual feedback, not automatic grading. Each player's Effects settings control or disable the actual animation.
