Void your own certificate

Permanently invalidate a selected certificate, add an optional public reason, and verify the result.

Void certificate permanently invalidates one certificate that belongs to your account. Use it only when that completion record should no longer be treated as valid. There is no undo.

Viewing another person's profile, publishing their Course, or managing their organization does not provide this action on their certificate.

Select and void the record

  1. Open your Learn > Certifications collection or your own profile's Certificates tab.
  2. Select the Course card or row.
  3. Use Certificate version if present. Check the selected record's version, issue date, and serial.
  4. Select Void certificate.
  5. Read Void certificate? and optionally enter a Reason.
  6. Choose Cancel to keep the record unchanged, or confirm Void certificate.
  7. Wait for Voiding… to finish and confirm the selected certificate now shows Voided.

The reason can contain up to 2,000 characters. It appears in validation results and exported PDFs; it is not a private note. A long reason can be shortened in the PDF. There is no later reason-editing control.

While the request is pending, the confirmation disables its actions and cannot be dismissed. Cancel or close it before confirming if you do not want the change.

What changes

The selected certificate becomes invalid immediately. The change applies to that one record, not every completion in the Course's history.

Your own collection retains the voided certificate. Other people no longer see it through ordinary profile browsing, but a signed-in person with its full serial can still validate it and see the voided status and reason.

Already downloaded PDFs are unchanged. A new individual export marks the record VOIDED · INVALID. Export all valid excludes it.

Voiding does not erase the Course's completed lessons, reset its learning run, remove it from Completed, or automatically issue a replacement certificate.

Earn another certificate

Use Recertify on the completed Course and finish the required work again. That produces a separate certificate; it does not restore the voided record.

If other valid certificates exist in the group, the collection can still show a valid representative. Open the history to confirm which record was voided.

Recover a problem

An expired certificate can still be voided by its owner. The action is absent for a certificate already voided or when you are viewing another account's records.

If submission fails, the confirmation keeps the reason and displays the problem so you can retry or cancel. If the result is uncertain, reopen the collection or validate the serial before trying again. An already-voided message can mean the earlier request succeeded.

Use Certificate history to find the correct record; changing the picker alone never voids a certificate.
