Review Smart PDF research and shortening history
Reopen research or shortening results, inspect charges, and remove eligible saved proposals.
Smart PDF AI history records research and shortening attempts for a draft, including unsuccessful runs and their available billing status. It is separate from Answer changes, which records changes actually saved to answer fields.
Open a history
- Continue the person's unfinished Smart PDF draft.
- Choose Research history in Research answers for research runs.
- For shortening, open a text field's PDF wording…, then Shortening history.
- Find the field, request time, draft revision, and status.
- Select Open result on a ready run.
Shortening history is scoped to the selected field. Research history can include runs for other research fields in that draft. Use Load older runs to extend the list, Refresh history to reload it, or Close history to return.
The normal status list is a recent subset; history provides access to older runs. Entries are shared with current profile document writers, rather than restricted to the account that requested them. Opening a result still checks your own access to the document and its evidence.
Reopening does not rerun AI
Open result reads the saved proposal. It does not create a charge or change answers. Research still needs Add to draft for review followed by human review. Shortening still needs copying into the wording editor and acceptance.
A saved proposal can become unavailable when its evidence changes or access is lost. A shortening proposal can be stale after the full answer or accepted PDF wording changes. Follow Return to field or Return to current PDF wording when offered; check the current answer before requesting new charged work.
An already applied research result cannot be applied again to overwrite later edits. History and the run's settled charge do not disappear merely because the proposal can no longer be reopened.
Delete an eligible run
- Select Delete run on the intended history entry.
- Read Delete this AI run?.
- Choose Keep run to cancel, or Delete AI run to confirm.
This removes the saved proposal and its run evidence. Answers already added to the document, their recorded source references, and independent billing records remain. Settled charges are not refunded.
Queued work can be deleted before it has reserved credits. Started or reserved work must finish and settle before deletion becomes available. A run whose billing is still being checked cannot be deleted to bypass that pending state. Refresh history after it settles.
Deleting a run does not delete the draft or completed documents. To remove unfinished document work, use Discard draft. That action may also need pending AI billing to finish first.
