Prepare and use offline Guides
Download Guides on each device, check readiness, and reconnect saved session work.
Prepare a Guide while connected so its supported content is available when you lose your connection. You need a signed-in account with permission to use that active Guide. Archived Guides cannot be prepared.
Downloads belong to the account and device that prepared them. Prepare each device separately; having the Guide in Library does not mean it is downloaded.
Prepare this device
- Connect to the internet and open the Guide in Library.
- In its overview’s Offline section, or its available actions menu, select Prepare offline. Guide actions on Home or Schedule may also offer preparation.
- Keep CareMap open until preparation finishes.
- Check Downloaded and the package status. Open Offline details for warnings and resource counts.
- Try the Guide on this device before depending on it without a connection.
The same package supports the Full and Simplified players. Set your preferred player in Accessibility settings before going offline; an account preference changed elsewhere needs a connection to reach this device.
Shelf Mode automatically prepares Favorite, contributed, scheduled, and assigned Guides. CareMap also refreshes saved downloads and retries recoverable failures when online. Automatic preparation can use cellular or metered connections.
Read the package status
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Offline ready | The prepared Guide and downloaded resources are available for offline playback. |
| Partial offline | Cached content can play, but some features need network or device support. Read the warnings. |
| Needs network | Required content is unavailable, or no usable download exists. Connect and prepare it. |
| Offline update pending | The saved copy no longer matches the Guide. Refresh while connected. |
| Refresh offline | The saved format is incompatible with this app. Refresh while connected. |
| Offline failed | Preparation failed. Reconnect and use Retry offline. |
A download count is not a guarantee that every feature works offline. See Offline details and warnings, especially for media, prepared speech, and communication adaptations.
Use Refresh offline after relevant content, speech, or communication settings change. If a refresh fails, CareMap may keep a previously playable package; read its current status and warnings before using it.
Reconnect session work
Supported progress, answers, routes, completion changes, and Report submissions can wait in a local session queue. Downloaded describes Guide content, not whether your session changes reached the server. File and media uploads have additional requirements; a prepared Guide does not make every capture or upload work offline.
Reconnect the same device and account, keep CareMap visible, and check Session Sync. Confirm the expected session or Report after replay. For blocked work, use offline session recovery before clearing device data.
Remove offline package removes the local download without deleting the original Guide. Bulk cleanup is in Mobile & Offline settings.
