Understand aggregate counts and percentages

Distinguish Reports, people, repeated answers, missing responses, and choice denominators.

Aggregate totals measure different things. Check the field's counting rule before treating a percentage as a share of people.

Compare the counts

  1. Open your aggregate's Summary and check its captured Report count and people selection.
  2. Open Results, then Explore field.
  3. Compare its response and missing counts using the rules below.
  4. Browse source responses when repeated answers or unexpected labels need explanation.
  5. Check the Timeline rules before comparing percentages between sections.
CountMeaning
ReportsMatching Reports captured for this run.
PeopleSaved selected participants; someone can be included without a matching Report.
Recorded answers / field responsesCaptured answer records, including repeated answers.
Missing for a fieldCaptured Reports with no answer record for that field.

Missing is not the number of missing people or every unanswered question in the Guide or Form. An empty or unreadable saved answer can still be an answer record. A field never answered in the captured Reports may not appear.

Fields group by their underlying Guide method or Form field, not merely by matching labels. Similar labels can therefore appear separately.

Results percentages

  • Single choice, Guide Options, and Yes/No: each answer contributes one choice; the denominator is the number of answer records for that field.
  • Form Multiple choice: each selected choice contributes a count; the denominator is the number of distinct Reports that answered that field.
  • Missing Reports are excluded from both denominators.

For example, two answered Reports containing three repeated single-choice answers produce percentages based on three answers. For multiple choice, three occurrences of the same choice across those two Reports produce 150%. Multiple-choice percentages can also total more than 100% without repeats.

Flat Guide Options that allow several selections currently count only the first saved selection in Results. Nested selections use their saved path; a partial path is not expanded into children. Guide Other uses its saved label. Form Other text can appear as a separate answer label.

The chart wording Percent of answered reports does not change the single-choice Results denominator above. Paging does not change denominators.

Check the source scope

A combined Guide + Form Report contributes the answers for the source type selected when the aggregate was created.

Guide Include in reports controls ordinary Report presentation. Aggregate capture currently reads saved Guide answers without applying that exclusion, so an answer hidden from the ordinary Report can still appear in an aggregate. Do not use that setting as an aggregate exclusion control.

Statistics are calculated from saved answers independently of optional AI summaries.
