Read recorded Smart PDF sources
Open supporting excerpts and understand why an older source may no longer be available.
Smart PDF answers can retain references to profile properties, Notes, Profile Documents, or Reports. A reference records the basis of an answer; it does not grant permanent access to the source.
You need write access to read sources in an unfinished draft. Profile Documents view access is enough to open completed answers, but each supporting source still has its own access and availability checks.
Open a supporting excerpt
For a research proposal, open View suggestion, then Read source 1 or another numbered source. For a saved answer:
- Open the draft, or View > Answers on a completed Profile Document.
- Expand Recorded sources beneath the field.
- Select a numbered Read source button.
- Read the title, Source dated information, and text in Supporting source.
- Expand Source reference if you need the recorded location and revision.
- Select Close source when finished.
Research proposals can also show Research requested. A proposal displays the excerpt used for that suggestion. Saved-answer readers may include surrounding context from the recorded source. Report excerpts distinguish Guide and Form answers and can show capture or submission dates. These are excerpts, not necessarily the complete source document.
The same source controls can appear in Answer changes for recorded Before and After values. Opening an excerpt does not start AI, charge for another run, or edit the answer.
Current access still applies
CareMap checks the containing document and source each time you open it. A source may become unavailable after a permission change, deletion, consent restriction, profile update, or source revision change.
A saved profile-property source must still match the recorded value and update time. Birth-date sources remain private to the linked account owner. Notes must still have the matching source date and authorized content. Report sources must still match the current eligible Report revision.
Recorded Profile Document citations can reopen retained historical revisions when those revisions and your access remain available. This differs from new research, which selects current Profile Document revisions.
Recover a failed read
Use Retry source for a connection or temporary service problem. If the message says the source changed or is inaccessible, reopen the document to check its current sources or ask the owner to restore appropriate access.
A saved AI proposal is rechecked against the evidence gathered for its run; changes can prevent reopening it even if one visible citation still looks valid. Fresh research uses currently available evidence and needs a new charge confirmation.
An unavailable excerpt does not erase or refresh the saved answer. Review that answer separately and change it deliberately if its supporting information is no longer suitable.
