Preview and complete a Smart PDF
Review PDF placement, resolve missing answers, and make the completed document current.
A saved Smart PDF draft remains unfinished until Complete document succeeds. Previewing prepares a PDF for inspection without replacing the current Profile Document. Both actions require profile document write access and available storage in the profile owner's personal workspace.
Inspect a preview
- Attach or clear any pending signature drawing.
- Select Preview PDF. CareMap saves pending answers first.
- Wait for the PDF to become available, then open PDF.
- Use Page to inspect pages, including any appended continuation pages.
- Return to Answers to make corrections.
Show in PDF beside a field highlights its location. It uses the current preview or prepares one first. A field repeated on several pages offers a Field location choice. Download PDF saves the available preview to your device; downloading does not complete the document.
You can preview incomplete answers or unreviewed suggestions. A preview is therefore not confirmation that completion requirements have been met.
Check the layout
PDF layout review identifies answers rendered with smaller text or on continuation pages. When text cannot fit at a supported size, the PDF points to an appended page containing the full answer.
For saved, reviewed text, Review wording for [field label] opens shorter PDF wording. Check every affected location; repeated fields can fit differently in different boxes.
Changing answers, profile suggestions, review state, or PDF wording makes the previous preview out of date. Save and preview again. The editor does not present an old preview as the result of your new answers.
Complete the document
- Fill required fields, including required signatures and required affirmative checkboxes.
- Review nonempty profile or AI suggestions. Check optional suggestions too.
- Resolve any validation message naming an incomplete or unresolved field.
- If a newer document is active, follow Review replacement.
- Select Complete document and wait for successful completion.
During Preparing preview… or Completing document…, you can close the editor and return later. Closing does not cancel the saved request. Check Profile Documents and saved drafts when you return.
Successful completion makes a new current revision and retains the previous revision in History. View provides both Answers and PDF. The rendered PDF is flattened; changes to a downloaded copy do not update saved answers. Use Edit answers for later CareMap revisions.
If generation fails, saved answers remain and no new completed version becomes current. Follow PDF recovery. Automatic comparison and Agent search can continue separately after completion.
