Library content types

Compare the content types that can appear in a CareMap Library.

The Library can hold folders and several kinds of reusable care content. The types you see depend on your workspace, your folder access, and which features are enabled for that Library.

Types you may see

  • Folders organize Library content. They can hold other folders, Guides, Forms, Courses, files, and templates.
  • Guides are step-by-step care resources. Use them when someone needs to follow or reuse a structured care process.
  • Courses and References are learning or reference items. The same Library area may label an item as a Course, a Reference, or "Needs setup" depending on its state.
  • Forms collect structured information. Use them when someone needs to fill out or edit a repeatable set of fields.
  • Templates are reusable starting points for new care content. Some workspaces may also show reusable packs, such as resource packs or icon packs, with template-style reusable content.
  • Files are uploaded documents or assets. Files may show upload, processing, or knowledge-search readiness states before every file feature is available.

Choose the right type

Choose a Guide for instructions, a Form for responses, a Course or Reference for learning material, a file for an uploaded document or asset, and a template when the item should become a reusable starting point. Use folders when the main goal is organization, sharing, or keeping related items together.

Use View Options > Filter types to show or hide folders, Guides, Courses, templates, Forms, and files in the current Library view. These filters only change what is displayed on your device. They do not delete content, change permissions, or remove items from the folder.

Library search groups matching results by content type. If a filter hides every matching result, reset the type filters to bring the hidden results back into view.

Actions vary by type and access

Available actions are different for each content type. For example, files can offer download actions, Forms can offer fill or edit actions, Courses can offer publish or archive actions when ready, and Guides or templates can offer authoring actions when you have permission.

If an expected action is missing, check that the item is not hidden by a filter, that the upload or processing state has finished, and that you have edit or management access for that folder.
