Edit and manage saved Guide templates

Change template details and supported content fields, then verify a new copy before reusing it.

Open a saved Guide, Sequence, Page, or Block template from Library and choose Edit. You need edit access to the template's folder and authoring availability. Restore an archived template before editing or inserting it.

The template editor changes the reusable template record. It does not edit the original source Guide or copies already made from the template.

Review the three tabs

The first tab is named for the template kind. It contains the supported content controls. Details contains the template name, description, folder, and source information. Review summarizes the save target, preserved source, kind, and destination folder.

Source information explains where the snapshot came from. It does not mean the template follows future changes to that source.

Know what can be edited here

Template kindContent controls in this editor
GuideGuide title, Guide description, and sequence names
SequenceSequence name and page names
PagePage name, background color, and block names
BlockBlock name; Text content for a Text block; labels of existing answer methods

The editor preserves other snapshot content but does not offer the full Guide builder. It does not add or reorder the nested structure, configure every Field method, edit Media sources, or provide all Flashcard controls.

For deeper changes, create or insert a copy into an editable Guide, make the changes there, then create a new template from the result. For formatted Text, use the Guide's full Block Editor and test the resulting template rather than treating the template's plain Text field as a rich-text editor.

Change the reusable details

  1. Open Details.
  2. Enter a nonblank Template name and an optional description.
  3. Choose the destination Folder if moving the template.
  4. Open Review and verify the kind and destination.
  5. Select Save template and wait for the result.
  6. Create a test copy and check its content before wider reuse.

You must be able to edit the destination folder as well as the current one. A folder appearing in the selector does not by itself establish write permission; the save can reject an inaccessible destination.

The template's Library name and its contained content name are separate. For example, renaming the template in Details does not rename every page or block in its snapshot. Creation dialogs can also ask for a name for the new Guide, sequence, or page.

Save before leaving

Use Save template before Back to Library. Do not assume that the Guide editor's Drafts panel, row-conflict comparison, or Undo history also protects this separate template editor. If a save fails, keep the editor open, resolve the error, and retry. Coordinate concurrent edits to the same template.

A successful save remains on the editor with the saved values. If the record cannot load, use Back to Library and check its folder, access, and lifecycle.

Archive or remove a template

Use the available Library actions to rename, move, archive, restore, or delete the template. Archiving prevents new insertion until restoration. Deleting the reusable record does not rewrite existing Guide copies.

Before changing or removing resources used by a template, test a new copy. A template snapshot is not a complete independent media backup. See Library deletion and restoration for lifecycle controls.
