Signature answers

Use Signature to collect a drawn sign-off while someone answers a Guide Field. It saves the drawing, optional signer name, and signing time. This is Guide evidence, separate from signing a document in a person's record.

Configure Signature

1. Open a Guide you can edit and select the Field.
2. Under Answer methods, choose Add answer method → Signature.
3. Write Instructions explaining what the person is signing or confirming.
4. Set Signer label, such as Signer name, Witness name, or Caregiver name.
5. Set Signer name to Required or Optional.
6. Review Response requirement, Report settings, and any after-submit action. Select Save block and test in Preview.

Guide review flags missing Instructions or Signer label. Required signer name is the default. Making it optional does not remove the need to draw.

Draw and save

1. Select Signature if the Field offers several methods.
2. Enter the signer name when required.
3. Draw a stroke in the signature box using a finger, stylus, or mouse.
4. Select Clear if needed, then draw again.
5. Select Save signature.

A tap without a drawn stroke is insufficient. Save signature appears when there is a changed drawing and any required name is non-empty. Whitespace alone is not a name.

After acceptance, the pad becomes a signature preview with Signed by when a name was supplied. The configured action can run. With Return to response methods, saving returns to the chooser; a saved response can also offer Done with response.

Replace a signature

Choose Redo signature to start a blank replacement while retaining the accepted signature. Review or change the name, draw again, and select Save signature. The replacement receives its own signing time.

Cancel redo keeps the accepted signature. Clear removes current replacement strokes; it does not delete the previous saved answer. Editing the name alone does not create a replacement: draw the new signature too.

If saving fails, the replacement strokes remain. Keep the input open, resolve the connection or displayed error, and select Save signature again. Check session synchronization for locally accepted answers awaiting server synchronization.

Access, requirements, and Reports

The drawing surface has no keyboard-only drawing alternative. Offer another appropriate method when someone cannot use pointer input.

A required Field needs a qualifying saved response under its shared response rules. Signature requires drawing evidence and any required name when used. An older name-only signature may still display, but it does not supply the drawing evidence; use Redo signature to replace it.

Included Reports can show the signature, supplied name, and signing time. Signature cannot map to a Form question. Preview practice stays out of the Reports inbox.

For a missing Report entry, confirm that saving succeeded and the method's Report inclusion is enabled.
