Completion answers

Use a Completion answer when someone performs a task away from the screen and then confirms it in a Guide. The answer can include a note or photo.

You need edit access to configure this method. When included in reports, its saved confirmation, note, and photo can appear in the Guide Report.

Add and configure a Completion answer

1. Open the Guide in the editor and select the Field block that should confirm the task.
2. Open Answer methods, select Add method, and choose Completion.
3. Describe the activity in the Field prompt. Extra Instructions are optional; avoid repeating the prompt.
4. Review the Completion button preview. Leave Confirmation label blank for Complete, or enter your own wording. Choose an image beside it if this activity needs a specific visual. Builder name names the method in the editor; it is not the completion button wording.
5. Set Supporting note to off or optional. When optional, you can customize the note placeholder.
6. Set Supporting photo to Not Shown, Optional, or Required.
7. Review the Field block's required setting and the method's report settings, save the block, and run Preview before sharing the Guide.

Completion is one response. Use Supporting note and Supporting photo to collect details within that response.

To offer another way to answer, use Add answer method (+) and choose a method such as Options or Type. You can do this before the first save or after reopening the Field. The new method opens for editing, and the existing Completion keeps its settings. These methods are alternatives, not extra steps required to complete one response. Save the block to keep the added method; cancel and discard the edit to keep the previously saved Field unchanged.

For a single Complete button again, use Use completion only, review the methods to be removed, and confirm the conversion. Cancel keeps the existing methods. The conversion is applied when you save the block, so review it before saving.

The Field block's required setting is separate: a required Field needs a saved completion, while required photo evidence also needs a successfully uploaded photo.

Choose a familiar Completion image

In Settings → Accessibility → Guide, use Completion image to upload an image or choose one from the code sets. This preference follows your account. The player uses the builder's activity-specific image first, your personal image next, and a checkmark when neither is available. Use default checkmark clears your personal preference without changing an author's override.

Complete the real-world task

1. Read or listen to the prompt and finish the activity.
2. Select Complete (or the author's button wording). It changes to Completed when saved. Use Undo completion if you tapped it accidentally.
3. Use Add a note or Add a photo when enabled and useful. The note box is hidden until you need it. Optional information is not marked as missing.
4. Save a changed note with Save note. Photo uploads start immediately.
5. If the author configured an after-submit action and supporting details are enabled, select Continue when finished. Saving completion alone leaves time to add those details. Later note/photo edits do not repeat the action.

If a photo is required, add it and wait for its upload to succeed before selecting Complete. A pending or failed upload is not sufficient.

Adding a photo or note does not confirm the task; only the confirmation button does.

Photo evidence and Reports

Pending or failed required evidence must be resolved before the Guide can be completed and its Report submitted.

People with access to the Guide Report can review the saved summary, note, and ready photo when the method is included in reports. Preview answers do not create a Report.

Fix common problems

• There are two large answer tiles: Completion and another answer method were added as alternatives. If you only need details supporting one confirmation, convert the Field to completion-only and use its Supporting note/photo settings instead.
• Confirmation asks for photo evidence: Select Add a photo, choose an image, wait for upload to finish, and select the confirmation button again.
• Evidence is pending or failed: Restore connectivity and retry the answer.
• The task was confirmed with the wrong note or photo: Update the note or choose a replacement photo. The replacement uploads immediately and preserves the existing completion state.
• The completion is missing from the Report: Return to the Guide and make sure the confirmation and any required evidence finished saving.
