Agent
Shared and read-only Agent content
Understand when the Agent can read shared content and whether it can change it.
The Agent can use supported content that you are currently allowed to read. Sharing a source with you does not give the Agent permission to change it.
When shared content is available
In your personal workspace, a broad Agent search can include Libraries that other people currently share with you. In an organization workspace, the Agent stays within that organization and uses content available through your current organization membership and folder access.
Ask with the exact Guide, file, Course, Reference, or folder name when possible. The Agent checks your access when it searches and again when you open a citation. It excludes content that you cannot read, even if an earlier conversation mentioned it.
Check who owns a source
Open a citation in an Agent answer to view Citation evidence. Its access card can show:
- Shared or Current workspace;
- the source owner;
- Editable or Read only; and
- why you have access, such as Shared folder, Guardian, or Organization staff.
These labels describe your current access to that source. Editable does not mean every Agent surface can edit it. The main workspace Agent supports only its listed actions, while Guide and Form changes belong in the matching editor Agent with that item open.
Understand the read-only boundary
The Agent can search, summarize, cite, and help you understand readable shared content. It cannot use a chat request to bypass a Read only grant, change sharing permissions, or turn view access into edit access.
If a supported action refers to a read-only source, the Agent should refuse the change. To edit a shared Guide or Form, you must have write access and use the appropriate editor. Archived content and other product states may remain read-only even when your folder role normally allows editing.
When you only want information, say “do not change anything.” When you do want a change, name the exact item and review the Agent's plan before confirming it.
If a shared source is missing
- Confirm that you are in the workspace where you expected to use the source.
- Open Library and check whether the item is still visible and whether it is marked Read only.
- Ask the owner or organization manager to confirm that the share, membership, or folder access is still active.
- Refresh CareMap, then ask a narrower question using the exact source name.
An existing chat may keep the earlier answer after access changes, but its citation may become unavailable. Reopen the source and verify current information before relying on an older answer.
