Read a citation preview
Understand the Citation evidence screen, its location labels, highlights, and source-opening controls.
Some saved evidence links open Citation evidence, a view of a specific source location. Ordinary Agent source cards also use other destinations; see Agent citations.
Review the evidence
- Open the saved citation while signed in with the account that received it.
- Wait for the location and preview to load.
- Read the location label and source owner.
- Inspect any highlighted area together with the surrounding content.
- Use Open in Library, Open in guide, or Open in profile, when offered, to inspect the source in context.
- Use Back to return through the available app history. If there is no return history, CareMap opens Agent.
On narrow screens the source-opening control may show only its icon. Its accessible label identifies the destination, such as Open image placement in guide.
A saved citation link is not a sharing invitation. Another account may be unable to open it even if that person can separately open the source.
Read the location label
The preview can identify a document page, extracted figure, slide, sheet and cell range, table, or Guide image placement. An extracted-figure preview shows that image; use the full source for its surrounding page.
This view shows the cited location. It is not a complete document reader with controls for every page or sheet.
A Profile Document comparison may have no visual preview while still offering Open in profile for the retained revisions. A missing preview does not by itself mean the underlying document was deleted.
Understand highlights
A highlight points to the stored area associated with the citation. It is not a complete explanation or a guarantee that the Agent interpreted the evidence correctly.
Some previews have no highlight. Extracted figures and Guide images display their image directly. A sheet or slide label does not guarantee a drawn cell-range or object highlight.
If CareMap says the stored highlight was hidden because the page geometry does not match, use the location label and open the full source. Do not guess which passage an invisible highlight would have selected.
Treat access labels carefully
The card can show Shared source, Current workspace, or Learn library, an owner, an access basis, and Editable or Read only.
An older citation can retain earlier access labels. Those labels do not grant editing permission or establish your current rights. Open the source itself before trying to edit it.
For Preview unavailable or Citation unavailable, follow citation recovery.
