Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot Guide editing and draft recovery
Preserve drafts when saving fails, editing access changes, device storage fails, or a panel stops.
Keep the Guide editor open while resolving an editing problem. First identify whether the message concerns saving to CareMap, retaining a draft on this device, permissions, or a failed panel. Those problems have different remedies.
A save failed or timed out
- Read the message and any highlighted invalid fields.
- Check the connection and wait for uploads or pending editor work.
- Retry the affected save.
- If the Block Editor offers Retry unconfirmed save, use that action and review the result before submitting newer edits.
- If it reports Changed elsewhere, compare the versions instead of repeatedly pressing Save.
A timeout does not prove that CareMap rejected the change. See Save Guide edits for late confirmations and edit conflicts for keep/reload choices. Avoid creating a duplicate item to work around an unknown save result.
Guide editing access changed
The Guide editing access changed notice disables saving when the editor can no longer verify its edit access to that Guide. It provides Drafts and Check editing access.
- Keep the tab open and download needed drafts.
- Confirm that you are using the intended account and workspace.
- Ask the folder owner or relevant administrator to check access or restore an archived item, as appropriate.
- Select Check editing access after the problem is corrected.
- Continue when access is restored, or follow the remaining message.
The check tests actual editing access; it does not grant permission. A connection error during the check needs a connection retry. A workspace authoring or storage allowance problem can also prevent edits; review workspace Usage for that separate issue.
Drafts could not be saved on this device
A local draft-storage warning can appear even while the draft remains visible. The copy may be held only in the currently open editor.
Open Drafts, select each version you need, and choose Download draft. Then use Retry saving drafts. This retries device storage, not the Guide save. Keep the editor open until you have preserved the work or successfully saved the intended Guide changes.
Do not clear site data, close the app, or switch devices as a first recovery step. Device drafts are not automatically synchronized elsewhere.
An editor panel stopped unexpectedly
A failed panel can offer Retry panel, Close panel, or Reload CareMap, depending on the panel. Preserve accessible drafts before retrying or reloading. Start with Retry panel; a full reload is a broader recovery action and cannot guarantee that unstored work will survive.
When an editor opens again, review any restore prompt. Use Saved Guide drafts to inspect retained versions. A missing Open/Restore action may be a supported-recovery limitation, including Flashcard-containing snapshots; download the copy and check its normal editor.
Information to collect
If the problem continues, record the Guide and workspace names, affected editor or panel, exact message, approximate time, and whether the save was confirmed or a draft was downloaded. Send those details through your normal support channel. A draft file can contain Guide content; share it only when appropriate for that channel.
