Automatic Report summaries and credits

Control future automatic Report summaries and understand source-workspace funding, the 500-credit threshold, and skipped attempts.

CareMap can attempt an AI summary when a new Guide or Form Report is recorded. The recorder's account preference controls that attempt, while the Report's recorded source workspace supplies its funding.

Change the account preference

  1. Open Settings > Account > Usage.
  2. Find Automatic report summaries when AI usage controls are available.
  3. Turn the switch on or off.
  4. Wait for saving to finish. If an error appears, check the switch and retry: a failed save restores the previous value.
  5. Open a newly recorded Report and review AI summary for its result or explanation.

The preference is on by default. It follows your account across personal and organization workspaces, including when you change Usage workspace. It does not change another recorder's preference.

Turning it off affects future automatic attempts. It does not delete completed summaries, cancel a request already running, or disable manual requests. Turning it on does not backfill older Reports.

Funding and eligibility

Automatic generation uses the source Guide or Form workspace recorded with the Report. It can be a personal or organization workspace. Your current viewing workspace does not redirect the charge.

An attempt needs recorded answers, an enabled recorder preference, available CareMap AI, and enough eligible source-workspace credits to reserve the request. The source workspace must have more than 500 spendable AI credits before automatic generation starts. At 500 or below, generation is skipped to preserve a credit buffer. This is a starting-balance rule, not a promise that 500 credits will remain after generation.

Automatic generation does not fall back to another person's balance when its source workspace cannot pay. Manual requests instead try the requester's personal funding, with an applicable Guardian fallback; see AI Report summaries.

Review a skip or failure

  1. Open the affected Report's AI summary.
  2. Read whether it was skipped for no answers, preference, credit buffer, or unavailable credits or service.
  3. Use Refresh status to check a request already running.
  4. If no summary completed, use Generate summary when offered to make a manual request under its funding rules.

There is one automatic attempt per Report, including an attempt that skips or fails. Adding credits or changing the preference does not automatically restart that Report. A completed summary is reused rather than generated again.

For balances, reservations, and workspace access, see Account storage and AI credits. For what the generated text can cover, read summary evidence and references.
