Notes and Schedule
Set Schedule times and timezones
Interpret clock values, timezone changes, daylight-saving gaps, and repeated times.
Schedule interprets the date and clock time you enter in the selected Timezone.
Set the intended time
- Create or edit a schedule and open Time.
- Enter Time or Start.
- Enter UTC or a timezone name such as America/New_York under Timezone.
- If End is shown, enter a later date and time when needed.
- For recurring work, review Until in the same timezone.
- Save, then check the item's displayed time and timezone label.
The timezone initially comes from the device for new work or the saved schedule for edits. Leaving it blank falls back to the device timezone.
Use a full timezone name rather than abbreviations such as CST or EST, or a numeric offset such as +03:00.
Changing the timezone changes the instant
Changing Timezone keeps the clock values in the fields. It reinterprets them in the new zone; it does not convert the fields to preserve the same instant.
For example, changing 9:00 from America/New_York to America/Chicago keeps 9:00 on screen but moves when the work occurs. Review Start, End, and Until together.
Calendar grouping uses your device's local date, while an item's clock label uses its saved timezone. Near midnight they can name different dates. See calendar views.
Handle clock changes
Some local times do not exist when clocks move forward. CareMap rejects a new entry in that gap with a message that the time does not exist. Choose another time; the editor does not silently shift the invalid entry.
When clocks move backward, a local time can occur twice. A newly entered duplicated time uses the earlier instant. There is no separate earlier/later selector in this editor.
An unchanged existing time keeps its saved instant, including an existing later occurrence of a duplicated time. Unchanged edits also preserve saved seconds even though the control displays minutes. Changing the clock value uses the newly entered value.
These rules describe entering and editing schedule times. Recurring occurrences also follow the series' timezone and recurrence rules; see Recurring schedules.
If validation fails
End must be after Start. Until must be on or after the series' first Start. Use whole-number recurrence intervals from 1 to 52.
When changing an existing schedule, review any retained End rather than assuming it moved with Start. For the current limitation on removing an End, see editing schedules.
