Start or resume a Guide session
Choose a new Play run or reopen an existing in-progress session without confusing it with replay.
Play starts a new Guide run. Resuming uses an explicit saved session, including an in-progress item in Home history or a saved session link.
You need current access to run the Guide and access to the selected session. An archived Guide cannot start a new run until it is restored; its historical Reports remain separate records.
Start a new run
- Find the Guide in Library and choose Play, or open the assigned or scheduled item you intend to complete.
- Wait for the player to finish starting.
- Check the person and task context, then follow the Guide.
- Save each answer through its visible response controls.
A new run starts at the Guide's configured beginning with a new session. Ordinary Play does not silently reopen the last stored run. A scheduled or assigned launch carries that context into the session; opening the same Guide directly is a different launch.
The account's Full or Simplified preference is selected when the player opens. Changing that preference during a run takes effect on a later launch.
Resume saved work
- In Home history, locate the Guide activity marked In progress.
- Open that activity, or reopen a link that identifies the saved session.
- Wait for restoration and read any recovery message.
- Check the restored page and answers before continuing.
A history item with a saved Report opens that Report. An ended item without a Report may launch a fresh run; it is not an in-progress resume.
Resuming restores available session answers, activity, and location. If the saved page was removed or changed, CareMap can reconcile the location and show a notice. On the same device, Simplified can also restore its focused block when a local checkpoint is available. Another device may begin at the start of the saved page.
Exit and replay are separate actions
The top-left player exit closes the run and can capture a partial Report. It is not a Pause button. Once the session is sealed, it is no longer an active session to continue answering.
Replay, when offered on a completion screen, starts a fresh session after preserving the old session's capture. It does not edit the old Report. See completion and Reports.
If restoration fails
An explicit resume failure does not replace that saved run with an empty one. Use Retry session sync when offered, reconnect, or return to Library and review Session Sync. A link for another Guide or an already ended session may be rejected or recover its existing Report.
Pending changes stored on one device are not automatically available on a second device before synchronization. Keep the original device's offline data. For planned disconnected use, prepare the offline Guide and review Session Sync.
