Restore content from a Guide draft
Recover supported drafts for removed blocks, pages, or sequences, and continue an unfinished page.
A retained Guide draft can sometimes restore content whose original item was removed. This requires a compatible saved draft, edit access, and an existing Guide you can open. Drafts are not a recycle bin containing every deleted item.
For a recent action in the same editor session, check Undo first. For older unsaved work, open Drafts.
Restore a removed item
- Select the retained draft and review its label, time, and preview.
- If it is a removed block, choose Restore into page.
- If it is a removed page, choose Restore into sequence.
- Select Restore block, Restore page, or Restore sequence, as offered. A removed sequence returns to the current Guide without a parent chooser.
- Wait for success, then inspect the restored content and Preview its path.
These restore actions save content directly. They differ from Open draft, which reopens an editor so you can review its unsaved work.
A restored block or page is appended to the selected destination; a restored sequence is appended to the Guide. Use the Organizer to position it. Restoring a sequence does not automatically make it Start.
What a restored snapshot includes
A page or sequence draft may contain a snapshot of its child content. Restoration skips pages or blocks that already exist elsewhere in the current Guide. It does not pull those live items back out of their new locations or replace their newer content.
Check the result carefully, including ordering, media, routes, and Warnings. The recovered snapshot reflects what the device retained, not every change made by other editors afterward.
If the restore fails, the saved copy remains available. Resolve the reported access, validation, destination, or connection problem before retrying. If a newer local draft appeared during restoration, CareMap can retain it and tell you that the reviewed version was restored.
Continue a page whose sequence disappeared
An unfinished Add page draft can outlast its original sequence.
- Select that draft in Drafts.
- Choose an existing destination under Continue in sequence.
- Select Open draft.
- Review the reopened Add page dialog, then finish creating the page.
Choosing a destination alone does not create the page.
Recover after an editing surface changes
Some retained inline-content or choice-option drafts cannot reopen against their original surface after the block changes. When compatible recovery information is available, Restore as new block lets you choose a page and save a separate block. The current block stays in place. Compare the two before removing anything.
For an existing item with a compatible editor, use Open draft and compare changes instead of trying to restore a second copy.
When only Download is available
The panel currently cannot reopen or restore Flashcard drafts, including page/sequence snapshots containing Flashcards. Missing template sources and other unsupported recovery records can also leave only a download option.
If the original item still exists, open its normal editor and check for a restore prompt. Otherwise use Download draft to preserve the recorded content. A downloaded draft has no automatic import workflow in this panel.
