Move through a Guide player

Use page controls, sequences, popups, and exit controls while respecting required answers.

A Guide's controls follow its authored pages, sequences, routes, and navigation locks. The Full and Simplified players share those rules but present different controls.

Follow the Guide

  1. Read the current page or focused block and save any response.
  2. In Full, use the available Previous or Next control. In Simplified, use the bottom back arrow or Continue.
  3. Use page dots or swipe navigation in Full when available. Simplified moves by block and does not offer those page controls.
  4. Follow authored buttons, answer actions, or timed actions when the Guide directs you to another location.
  5. At the ending, use Finish guide in Full or Finished in Simplified.

A page may intentionally hide ordinary controls. Sequence defaults, Page locks, and your navigation preferences all affect what appears. Unlocking one setting does not override another restriction.

In Full, available sequence controls let you choose a sequence. Their layout changes with screen width. In Simplified, open … > Guide controls to find the sequence menu. Selecting a sequence normally opens its first page; required-answer rules may block the move.

Understand back and popup behavior

The bottom Previous/back control moves through Guide content. An authored route can give it a return destination rather than the preceding page in the list.

Use Close popup to return to the underlying page. The player's exit/back control also closes an open popup before leaving the whole experience.

The top-left exit is different: Full shows a back control for the destination outside the player, while Simplified shows X. Leaving a real Play session can capture a partial Report. See Guide completion and Reports.

When movement is blocked

Save required replies on the current page and wait for required media evidence. Forward movement, switching sequences, and finishing can be blocked; page dots can also prevent skipping required work on intervening pages. Backward movement has different rules and is not a substitute for answering.

Some blocked manual controls do not open a detailed explanation. Inspect the current Fields and any notice. In Simplified, use Open in a missing-answer prompt to return to that Field.

A draft that still needs a save or validation decision can also prevent navigation. Use the response's submission controls; selecting an image or typing a note does not always submit it. See saving and revising answers.

When movement happens automatically

Timers, page-entry outcomes, and answer actions can move you even when manual navigation is locked. Simplified page timers continue across its blocks. A timer whose action was blocked does not automatically retry after an answer is fixed.

Authors should test every path and provide a usable exit. See navigation locks and page outcomes.
