Review a Form changed during filling
Load an updated Form, review compatible retained answers and changed fields, and continue the same response.
When an author changes a Form while you are answering it, submission can stop with a request to Review updated Form. Use that action inside the existing response to retain compatible answers and review the new questions.
Load and review the changes
- Keep the original response open when the change notice appears.
- Select Review updated Form and wait for loading to finish.
- Read the change list. It identifies new, changed, removed, or reset fields and can show the previous response for comparison.
- Starting from the first section, review retained answers, new instructions, choices, and limits. Re-enter answers that no longer fit.
- Select I've reviewed the changes after reviewing the update.
- Complete the remaining sections and select Submit Form.
Submitting stays unavailable until you acknowledge the changes. Acknowledging does not waive required fields or validation. The About subject stays attached to this response; loading also checks that it remains authorized.
Understand retained answers
CareMap matches an existing question to that same question in the updated Form. It does not match answers merely because two questions have the same label or position.
- Text generally survives a change between Short text and Long text.
- Changed labels, help text, required status, or limits can retain an answer, but you must check it against the revised question.
- Choices that still exist remain selected. Removed choices are dropped. Disabling Other drops that selection and its text.
- Changing to an incompatible field type, or changing a Date & time field's mode, resets its answer.
- Upload selections remain only when their files still fit the new restrictions and the selection can be reconciled. Otherwise, choose files again.
A new required field still needs an answer. A removed field's earlier answer is excluded from the next submission. Previous responses shown in the change notice are references, not extra answers that will be submitted.
Review more than the change list
The list concentrates on answer fields. Changes to instructions, images, section order, or other Form settings may not have their own entry. Review the whole Form, even if the list is short or empty.
CareMap returns you to the first section after loading. It clears earlier validation and upload-error displays, then validates the retained answers against the current rules as you continue.
If loading fails
A failed update load leaves the displayed Form and local answers unchanged. Read the error and try Review updated Form again after the problem is resolved.
The current Form must still be active, ready, and accessible in a workspace that accepts responses. Lost About permission can also prevent loading; resolve access before continuing. A discarded or submitted attempt cannot be refreshed as an unfinished response.
If the author changes the Form again, repeat the review. Avoid a browser reload as a recovery shortcut: unsubmitted answers are held only in the open page. For connection failures or exit choices, see submission recovery.
