Upload, replace, and remove Form answer files
Attach evidence, retain the right selection after a failed replacement, and recover from upload restrictions.
Upload questions attach selected files to a Form response. You need access to fill the active Form and enough workspace storage. The author controls permitted file types and how many files the question accepts.
Attach files
- Open the Form for filling and find the Upload question.
- Read its category, type, extension, and maximum-file restrictions.
- Select Choose files and choose the full set for this question.
- Wait for Uploading… to finish.
- Check the ready count and each filename, type, and size.
- Complete the remaining questions and submit the Form.
Uploading is not submission. A required Upload needs at least one ready file; an optional question can stay empty. Navigation, submission, and upload-selection changes are held while a transfer is in progress.
The picker can show a file that later fails validation. A file must meet all configured restrictions, not just one matching extension or MIME type.
Replace or remove files
Replace file or Replace files opens the chooser again. Select the complete new set: replacement does not append to the old selection.
The old selection stays until all new files upload successfully. Canceling the system picker leaves it unchanged. If any new upload fails, the old selection remains, and the error needs attention before continuing. Successfully transferred files from a failed replacement are not added to the answer automatically.
Use Remove beside a filename to remove only that file, or Clear all to empty this question. Other answers and other Upload questions remain. Removing the last file from a required question makes it incomplete.
These actions change the current response selection. They do not delete the uploaded files from storage or remove files from past Reports.
Recover from a failed upload
Keep the Form open and read the message:
- Too many or unsupported files: Choose a set within every displayed limit.
- File too large: Use a smaller file within the stated upload limit.
- Storage exceeded: Use a smaller selection or ask the workspace owner to free storage.
- Storage allowance unavailable: Ask the workspace owner to restore it.
- Permission or Form unavailable: Ask the owner to restore access or provide the current Form.
- Connection failure: Choose the intended set again to retry.
A failed replacement can leave a “previously accepted file kept” count. Review those files before retrying. Removing or clearing a selection also clears its upload error, but the resulting answer must still satisfy Required.
Restore an expired sign-in before retrying. Do not assume reloading or signing in again preserves the current unsubmitted answers.
Preview and scoring
Preview creates no submitted response or Report, but selecting files still performs real uploads. Use suitable test files.
Upload fields are never automatically graded. After successful submission, the selected files belong to that submitted response; later selection changes in another fill do not revise it.
