Lesson quiz items

A Quiz checks understanding before a learner can complete a Course lesson. References do not support Quizzes. You need editing access to the Course and workspace authoring and storage available.

Add the Quiz

1. Open the Course builder and select a lesson.
2. Under Add content, choose Quiz.
3. Set Title and a whole-number Passing score from 1 to 100.
4. Enter the Question prompt and at least two labeled answers.
5. Select exactly one Correct answer for that question.
6. Optionally enter Explanation shown after submission and add more questions or answers.
7. Wait for Saved, resolve Publishing readiness messages, then test Preview.

A new Quiz starts with a 75% passing score, one empty question, and two placeholder answers. Replace the placeholders with meaningful choices.

Each lesson supports at most one Quiz. The Quiz button disappears once one is present, and it is absent in Reference mode.

Edit questions and answers

Question adds another question. Answer adds another choice to the current question. Every answer must have a label, and every question needs a prompt and exactly one correct choice.

Remove answer is unavailable when only two choices remain. If you remove the marked correct choice from a larger set, choose another correct answer. Remove question removes that whole question, including its choices and explanation, without a separate confirmation.

An assessment needs at least one question to publish. Use the Quiz item's remove control if you want to remove the whole knowledge check instead.

Question prompts and explanations accept up to 20,000 characters each; answer labels accept up to 5,000 and the title up to 255. A blank or fractional Passing score can fail saving; enter a whole percentage and retry.

Check ordering and Preview

Use the Quiz item's grip to position it among the lesson content. The editor also offers Shuffle questions and Shuffle answers. These settings are saved, but the current learner and Preview screens display questions and choices in their authored order. Do not rely on the controls to randomize what learners see.

Preview creates no recorded learner attempts or certificates. It rounds scores to whole percentages, while Learn grades to three decimal places. A borderline result can differ: two of three correct answers can display as 67% in Preview but score 66.667% in Learn and fail a 67% requirement.

Understand the requirement

Learners must pass the Quiz and then select Complete Lesson. Passing alone does not complete the lesson or the Course.

Removing the Quiz changes the Library draft. Existing published versions keep their captured content. Switching the draft to Reference removes all Quizzes and the final exam; switching back does not restore them.
