Text lesson items

Use Text for written instructions, explanations, summaries, and links inside a Course lesson or Reference chapter. You need editing access to the project.

Add and format Text

1. Open the project for editing from Library and select a lesson or chapter.
2. Under Add content, select Text.
3. Write in Rich text and use the toolbar to structure the content.
4. Set Text alignment if needed.
5. Drag the item's grip to place it among the other content.
6. Wait for Saved, then inspect Preview.

You can add multiple Text items, for example to place an explanation before a video and a summary after it.

The toolbar includes paragraph and heading styles, Quote, Code block, Separator, bold, italic, underline, inline code, bulleted or numbered lists, and checklists. Checklists here are authored reading content; checking them in the editor does not create a learner answer or completion requirement.

Alignment applies to the Text item. Choose Default, Left, Center, or Right; an existing Justify setting can remain available. Check the result in Preview.

Add links and tables

Select words or place the cursor, then use the link control. Enter descriptive link text and a valid destination and select Save. Select an existing link to edit it; Remove link keeps its words.

Use the table control to insert a table. With the cursor in a cell, use Add row, Add column, or Remove table. Remove table removes the whole table from the draft. Keep tables small enough to read on narrow screens.

These controls change the Text item and follow Course autosaving. There is no separate Save block action in this builder.

For images among paragraphs, use Images inside Course and Reference text. A separate Image item is useful when the picture should be reordered independently.

Review Markdown Source

The Source mode control shows a Markdown representation. Opening it alone does not replace the rich-text document.

If Markdown cannot preserve all current formatting, Source stays read-only until you select Enable source editing. Editing it can simplify unsupported formatting, and those changes follow autosave. Return to Rich text and inspect the result. Formatting toolbar controls are unavailable in Source.

Check the learner experience

Text appears directly in the lesson or chapter. It does not record a score or require a separate completion action.

Publishing readiness does not check whether a Text item contains meaningful writing. Review empty items, headings, link destinations, and table width yourself. A link does not grant access to the destination.

If saving is blocked by an image operation, finish it or use its Retry or Cancel control. For connection or competing-edit problems, follow Course saving recovery. Do not reload before preserving work you still need.
