Audio lesson items

Use an Audio lesson item when learners should listen to a recording within a Course. CareMap shows standard playback controls and, when provided, a caption below the player.

Add audio to a lesson

You need edit access to the Course's Library folder to upload or replace its audio.

1. Open the Course in Library, then select the lesson that should contain the recording.
2. Under Add content, select Audio.
3. In Audio file, choose an AAC, M4A, MP3, OGG, WAV, or WebM file up to 50 MB.
4. Add a short Caption when learners need a title, description, or context for the recording.
5. Wait for the item to show Ready, move it to the right place if needed, and use Preview to check the playback and caption.
6. Wait for the Course to show Saved before leaving the builder.

CareMap uploads audio files directly; an external audio URL cannot be used in an Audio item. A Course cannot be published while an Audio item has no file.

Understand audio states

• Uploading means the file is still being transferred.
• Processing means CareMap is preparing the file. You can keep editing while this finishes.
• Ready means the recording is available in Preview and Learn.
• Failed means the file could not be prepared. The item shows the reason when one is available.

Learners receive the same audio controls on web, desktop, and mobile. Audio is lesson content, but CareMap does not require a learner to play the recording before completing the lesson.

Fix common problems

• The file is rejected: Confirm that its format is supported and that it is no larger than 50 MB, then choose it again.
• Uploading or Processing does not finish: Keep the Course open or return to it later to check the refreshed status. If the item becomes Failed, choose a replacement file.
• The wrong recording is attached: Select Clear audio, then choose the correct file. Clearing detaches the recording from this lesson item.
• The Course does not save: Use Retry save. If CareMap reports a newer version, use Reload latest, then review the Audio item again.
