Manage cloud voices

Global administrators use Admin → Content → Voices to approve Google Cloud voices. The page heading is Platform Voices. Organization Manager status alone does not grant access.

A Platform Voice is a shared approved voice. A personal Voice Profile combines one of those voices with a name and speed. Guide authors can save independent voice selections in their content.

Add a Platform Voice

1. Open Admin → Content → Voices and select Add voice.
2. Choose Language, then Google voice.
3. Enter a recognizable CareMap name of up to 100 characters.
4. Optionally preview the selected voice before adding it.
5. Select Validate and add, then inspect the saved row.

The catalog shows discovered voices and their families. Reviewed Chirp 3 HD voices can be added. Other families and Preview languages are shown as Not enabled. Already configured identifies an existing selection; choose another voice/locale combination instead of adding a duplicate.

Use Refresh Google catalog to request an updated provider list. If refresh fails after a successful load, the editor retains the last list and explains that it could not refresh. A temporary failure does not retire saved voices. A failed validation keeps the editor open so you can correct the selection.

Adding a voice does not make it the Platform Default. Use default and retirement controls for that separate decision.

Read and update a row

Rows show the CareMap name, provider voice ID, provider name/category, Status, and Validated time. Platform Default marks the chosen default. Refresh reloads saved status; it does not revalidate every voice.

Select Edit, change CareMap name, then Save name. Renaming changes the label without changing the provider identity or invalidating existing audio. You cannot replace the provider ID in this editor; add a different voice instead.

Preview a voice

Preview is available for active voices marked Available. It plays a sample for the selected language at Normal speed; use a personal Voice Profile to preview a different saved speed.

An exact reusable sample can play without new generation. Creating an uncached sample uses your personal account's AI credits and needs at least 3 available credits, with enough credits reserved for the entire sample. Completed usage accumulates at 3 credits per 100 characters; leftover characters carry forward. The admission minimum is not a fixed charge for every short sample. Cached replays have no synthesis charge. Organization membership does not make this Admin preview use the organization's balance.

While the sample is Preparing, allow it to start. The catalog editor also provides Stop preview. If generation is disabled or funding is unavailable, follow the displayed message before trying again. A failed preview does not disable device speech elsewhere in CareMap.

Recover from an error

Choose a supported language and voice and retry the open editor. For missing provider configuration or repeated provider errors, contact the administrator responsible for the service.

If saving succeeded but Refresh failed, reload the catalog before adding another entry. Share the voice name, status, error, and time through an approved support channel; never include credentials.
