Administration
Manage cloud voices
Add, validate, preview, retire, and choose the default cloud voice available in CareMap.
The Voices administrator page controls which approved cloud voices CareMap offers. Provider credentials remain on the server and are never shown in this screen.
A Platform Voice is the administrator-approved voice record. A Voice Profile is a person's named choice of Platform Voice and speed. A Guide author can copy a profile into an independent authored Guide selection.
Open Voices
- Sign in with an administrator account.
- Open Admin > Content > Voices.
- Review provider readiness, active and retired voice counts, and the current Platform Default.
Add and validate a voice
Select Add voice, enter the name CareMap should display, and paste the provider voice ID. Saving validates the ID against the configured provider. Use Preview to test the ordinary synthesis, cache, and AI-credit path. Preview generation can consume the administrator's available AI credits when an exact cached result does not already exist.
Choose the Platform Default
Exactly one active voice can be the Platform Default. Accounts without a personal default voice profile inherit it at Normal speed. Changing the Platform Default changes that inherited selection immediately.
Retire a voice
Retirement prevents new selections and new provider generation with that voice. Existing generated audio remains playable. Voice records are retained for historical Guide snapshots, cached artifacts, and audit history and cannot be permanently deleted.
If a retired or unavailable voice needs new speech, CareMap falls through the normal voice hierarchy and ultimately uses device speech when no cloud voice is usable.
Troubleshoot readiness
If the page reports a missing API key, missing Platform Default, unavailable voice, or disabled provider, correct the server configuration or voice record and validate again. Record only the CareMap voice name, visible readiness state, error message, and attempt time when escalating a problem. Never share provider credentials.
