Workspaces and Access

Switch workspaces

Change the active workspace while keeping your place when the same destination is available.

Your active workspace controls which Library, Notes, Reports, Schedule, and other workspace areas you can see. Switch workspaces when you need to move between your personal content and an organization you belong to.

Switch to another workspace

  1. Open the workspace switcher:
    • On a wide screen, select the current workspace at the top of the left sidebar.
    • On a compact or mobile screen, select More, then select the current workspace at the top of the page.
  2. Under Available workspaces, select your personal workspace or an entry under Organizations.
  3. Confirm that the workspace name at the top of CareMap has changed.

The selected workspace is marked in the menu. CareMap remembers your active workspace for your account on that browser or device.

What happens when you switch

CareMap keeps you in the same destination when that destination is available in the new workspace. For example, switching while viewing Reports keeps Reports open when your access to the new workspace includes it. If the destination is unavailable, CareMap opens Home and announces why.

Workspace content and actions can differ because each workspace has its own content, features, and access rules. Any active workspace search is cleared when you switch, so start a new search in the selected workspace.

If you have unsaved edits, CareMap asks whether to switch workspaces and discard them. Choose Cancel to remain in the current workspace and save your work, or confirm only when you are ready to discard those edits.

Understand workspace states

The switcher lists only personal and organization workspaces associated with your account. A label beneath each workspace identifies your relationship, such as Personal, Owner, Manager Staff, Staff, or Member. Read-only means you can enter the workspace but cannot perform every editing action.

A workspace marked Suspended remains visible but cannot be selected. If an expected organization is missing, or a workspace remains unavailable, ask the appropriate organization owner or manager to review your membership and workspace status. If access to the active workspace is removed, CareMap uses another available workspace the next time it resolves your workspace access.
