Roles and membership

Organization membership, folder roles, and Licenses answer different questions: which organization relationship you have, which content you can access, and which capabilities and allowances are supplied.

Read organization roles

The workspace switcher labels your relationship. Read-only and Suspended are access states shown alongside or instead of the role.

Organization role	Workspace and management behavior
Owner	Broad organization management; Owner access on the organization Library root.
Manager Staff	Staff with manager responsibilities, including authorized Staff/Client and licensing management; Read/write on the organization Library root.
Staff	Organization workspace and overview access, with Read/write on the Library root; not the same management authority as Manager Staff.
Member	Ordinary membership, normally Read only on the organization Library root; no Staff management authority from this role alone.

Root permissions flow down to descendants. Workspace capabilities and storage can still limit actions. Manager Staff is not automatically a folder Owner for Share Folder, and assigning a lower direct child role does not cancel a stronger inherited root role.

Organization and, for managers, Members are the standard organization navigation entries. Members combines Staff and Client management. See Organization roles for role-change workflows.

Client, contact, and Guardian relationships

A Client is an organization care relationship and is not another name for Manager Staff or folder Owner. It can affect client assignment, Shelf, and personal role-License eligibility. A profile's organization affiliations do not by themselves give its viewer management access.

A contact relationship supports direct sharing; it does not automatically share every folder. Account Guardians and Person Guardians have distinct permissions. See Guardians and care teams.

License benefits do not replace permission

The organization's own Licenses supply its workspace capabilities. A configured Staff or Client role License supplies eligible linked accounts with personal Package benefits while that relationship remains eligible. It does not turn ordinary Staff into Manager Staff, grant a new folder role, or pool personal and organization allowances. See Personal role Licenses.

If an action is missing

Confirm the account and workspace, check More and Settings > Appearance > Features, and inspect the folder's Access label when the issue is in Library. Refresh after membership changes. Ask an organization Owner or Manager Staff member about organization access, or the folder Owner about sharing. Capabilities, roles, and available actions can differ in each organization.
