Manage care tasks
Add care work, link it to a goal, and track priority, due date, and status.
Care tasks track work for one Person, with an optional link to a care plan goal. They live under People > Clients > the Person > Care records > Tasks.
The linked account, authorized active care-team members, qualifying organization Staff, and CareMap administrators can manage tasks. Guardian status alone does not grant this access. See Care records.
Add a task
- Enter a Title and optional Notes.
- Choose Priority: Routine, Important, or Urgent.
- Optionally choose a Due date.
- Under Goal, keep No goal or select a non-archived goal for this Person.
- Select Add task and confirm it appears with status Open.
After a successful add, the form clears the title, notes, and date and returns priority to Routine. It keeps the selected Goal, which is useful for adding several tasks to the same goal. Check that selection before adding unrelated work.
Due dates and priority do not create calendar entries or reminders. Use Schedule for scheduled assignments. The task form has no assignee picker, although an existing task can display an assigned account.
Update and complete work
Use the task row's selectors to change Goal, status, or priority, and its date field to change or clear the due date. Changes save immediately. There is no separate Save button and no inline title or Notes editor in the row.
Choose In progress while working and Done when complete. Choose Archived, or use the archive icon, to retain the task as archived. For an active Person, use the status selector to reopen or restore it.
Goal assignment does not complete the goal. Likewise, achieving or archiving a goal does not automatically change its tasks. Existing task rows can retain or select an archived goal even though the new-task form lists only non-archived goals.
Filter and read counts
Use Filter tasks by goal to choose All tasks, No goal, or a specific goal. This only changes the displayed list; it does not reassign tasks.
“Active / shown” counts non-archived tasks among the displayed results. Done tasks still count as active. Archived rows remain visible, and a goal's task summary follows the same non-archived counting rule.
An archived Person cannot receive a new Open task. Existing tasks can be moved to Done or Archived, but changes that leave them Open or In progress are blocked. Ask an administrator to restore the Person before resuming active work.
For a failed load or update, read the error and use Try again. Check access, the selected Person's status, and whether an interrupted add already succeeded before retrying it.
